Paper Template Cutting Instructions

This pattern includes instructions for raw edge appliqué, therefore the printed template size is the actual size of the finished patch. If you wish to use turn under appliqué techniques, add a ¼” around all sides of each template and appliqué using your preferred method.

Use scissors to cut out Template A and Template B as well as Templates for the Bee Body, the Bee Wings, all (3) Bee Stripe sizes, Bee Eye and Bee Smile.

Some templates will be traced with the right side of the template facing up, and some will be traced with the wrong side of the templates facing up. This is to create a mirror image. The right side of the templates (printed side) show the template name, the wrong side of the template will be blank.

WS = Wrong Side RS = Right Side

Piecing and Appliqué Instructions

1. Sew together (2) 58½” x 34½” Fabric A fabric pieces using a ¼” seam. This will create the back-ground for your appliqué hexies and bees. When sewn, the Fabric A background piece should mea-sure 58½” x 68½”.

2. Begin Bee assembly by pairing together the pieces that make up the bee (Bee Body, Bee Wings, Bee Smile, Bee Eye and (1) set of Bee Stripes) Be sure that the mirror images pieces are paired together.

3. Remove the paper from the fusible, and fuse the Bee Eye, Bee Smile and Bee Stripes on top of the Bee Body. Do not remove the paper from the back of the Bee Body or Bee Wings at this time.

4. Once the Bee Body is constructed, set the bee aside with the matching set of Bee Wings for future use.
