Textron Aviation has implemented a feature on the Cessna supplier web site, giving its suppliers the ability to request Cessna and Beechcraft Engineering and

Manufacturing documents at their convenience. The documents include Cessna Engineering Parts Lists, Release Sheets, 2D drawings, CATIA models and First

Article Inspection Reports, Manufacturing Planning (routings) documents, Bills of Materials and CATIA models. Engineering documents related to a vetted

Cessna Outside Production Specification Sheet (routing) as the driver for the additional information can also be extracted. Beechcraft documents are also

available from this web site, specifically those stored in Beechcraft’s Document Distribution System (DDS). CATIA models for Beechcraft parts are not yet

available, but will be supported in a future release. The new web form creates a request that is passed to the Cessna Electronic Data Acquisition and Release

System (CEDARS) Automated Document Distribution application. Each request is vetted against open Purchase Orders, Requests for Proposal/Quote, Contracts,

or Schedule Agreements to confirm access to the documents. A scheduled job executes every five minutes to process these requests. A CEDARS package will be

generated and the supplier will receive the standard email to notify them that the package is now available for them to download.

The login page will prompt you for your user credentials (typically your email address and password) and your Textron Aviation Supplier Code. This will be your

Cessna supplier code if you support Cessna or Cessna and Beechcraft parts, or your Beechcraft supplier code if you only support Beechcraft parts. You will need

to have your Textron Aviation buyer contact request user credentials for each of your employees who will need access to the Cessna supplier web site. Both the

User and Password fields are case-sensitive. If you do not know your Supplier Code, or need user credentials, contact the person at your company who does

business with Cessna or Beechcraft.

Your current user credentials for the Beechcraft web site (http://beechcraft.com) or the Textron Aviation web site (http://txtav.com) will not work with the

Cessna supplier web site. A project to integrate these three web sites into the Textron Aviation web site is underway.

Once you have logged into the web site, you may reach the CEDARS (Cessna Electronic Data Acquisition and Release System) packages, by

clicking on the “Process Improvements/Collaboration link in the left menu panel, then the CEDARS link or on the link under Supplier Information.

When the CEDARS menu panel appears, it displays the options that are available to you. If you do not see links to download packages, click on the “Update Technical Contact” link to add/update contact information and/or CAD data format(s). Until this panel is completed, your company will not be registered with CEDARS, packages to you cannot be created and you cannot upload files.

UPDATING CEDARS TECHNICAL CONTACT

This panel displays the technical contact and CAD data format(s) used by CEDARS to create packages. The first Data Transfer Contact Name and email and the default CAD format are required fields. The second Data Transfer Contact Name and email and alternate CAD format are optional fields. If you require alternate CAD formats, they may be selected for later use by the Cessna person who creates your packages. More than one alternate CAD format may be selected by holding the CTRL key down when selecting the additional formats. Click on the "Explain CAD Formats" button (see next page for illustration) if you need further explanation of the CAD formats. Click on the "Submit" button to save and implement your changes and also register your company with CEDARS.

Once you have registered your company information and CEDARS technical information, the CEDARS menu will appear as shown below. You will now be able to download packages from Textron Aviation or upload files to Textron Aviation by clicking on the links indicated. You will also be able to request Material Specifications by selecting “Technical Documents”, then “Cessna Materials & Process Specifications Index” from the grey menu on the left side of the page.

The response time for your request is based on the number of documents your request is generating and the

number of requests from all suppliers that are waiting to be processed.


Cessna Scenario 2: Part or drawing number referenced by part on an open Purchase Order or Request For Quote

How do I know what is referenced on a Purchase Order?

When documents (other than CATIA models) that are referenced on a Purchase Order are revised, you will receive that document automatically. In the package,

there is a file named PurchaseOrderReference.txt. It contains the purchase order number, line item number, document reference number and the Cessna buyer

responsible for that line item.

Any of the highlighted parts can be requested since there is a direct path to the part on the purchase order. To request these parts, enter the part number that

is on the purchase order (4489281-1) as shown below and the parts that are referenced in this assembly, either directly or indirectly (4479043-14, 4479004-12).

To receive 2D drawings, Parts Lists, Release Sheets and FAIRs, type the drawing number(s) into the text field on the left side of the page, one number per line,

and check the appropriate boxes. You may also paste the numbers from another document into this field. Whether you type or paste numbers into the field,

make sure there is only one number per line. You can also check boxes to receive Drawing Departure Authorization (DDA), Drawing Change Notice (DCN) or

Experimental sheets associated with the requested drawings. The entries in the field will be verified against line items on open purchase orders (PO) and

requests for quote (RFQ) with your company. You may also request drawings/models that are directly referenced by a part number that is listed on an open

PO/RFQ if you enter the part number (not the PO number) in the “Part Number listed on P.O. field. If you use this field, this part number will be vetted against

open POs and RFQs and all the entries in the text field below it will be tested to confirm whether they are referenced in the product structure of this part

number.


To receive the Engineering CATIA models for a specific part number and any parts it references, enter the part number (Ex: 4489281-1) into the text field on the

left side of the page, one number per line and check the “Include Engineering CATIA Models” box shown above. The CATIA models will be exported in the

format shown by the dropdown. The default format for your company is selected already, but you may change to another registered format if required by

selecting the alternate from the dropdown. If you want both the 2D and 3D documents in the same request, enter the part number(s) only, the drawing

numbers will be determined from the part numbers.

To receive Manufacturing Planning (routing) documents, type the part numbers you want into the text field on the right side of the page, one number per line.

You may also paste the numbers from another document into this field. Whether you type or paste numbers into the field, make sure there is only one number

per line. You will also need to select a Routing Type Criteria from the dropdown menu: BOTH will return Outside Production Specification Sheets (OPSS -

external routings) and Released Routings (RLSD – internal routings) if both exist; OPSS will return only the OPSS routings even if both exist; RLSD will return only

the RLSD routings even if both exist. You may also check the box to include Manufacturing Bills of Materials that are associated to a routing if one exists. If you

want the Engineering documents (drawings and Parts Lists) and the Manufacturing CATIA models referenced by an OPSS routing, check the “Include

Manufacturing CATIA models and Engineering documents referenced on OPSS Routing” box shown above. The Manufacturing CATIA models will be exported in

the format shown by the dropdown. The default format for your company is selected already, but you may change to another registered format if required.

When you have completed your entries and are prepared to finish your request, click the “Submit Request” button.



The confirmation page will show the documents that have been requested for this package. The request processing is done by a scheduled job, running every

five minutes. When the request is completed, you will receive two emails, the standard CEDARS package notification email and a separate email that details the

results of your request.

To submit another request, click the “Create New Batch Load” button. To return to the CEDARS menu, click “Return to CEDARS Menu”.




Beechcraft Scenario 1: Drawing, Specification or Standard part number listed on an open Purchase Order, a Request For Quote or is listed in your company’s DDS filter

Enter the document numbers as shown on the page. Select the Document Type (default is Engineering Drawings) and revision (default is “Latest Revision”), then the “Submit Request” button. If the document type selected is not Engineering Drawings, the Related Info checkbox is hidden since it only applies to that

document type. If you want the drawing, but not the related info, uncheck the box.

As with the Cessna requests, the confirmation page will show the documents that have been requested for this package. The request processing is done by a

scheduled job, running every five minutes. When the request is completed, you will receive two emails, the standard CEDARS package notification email and a

separate email that details the results of your request.

To submit another request, click the “Create New Batch Load” button. To return to the CEDARS menu, click “Return to CEDARS Menu”.




When your new package has been generated, the “New Packages” counter will be incremented and you may download it using the “Download your Cessna

Packages” link on the CEDARS menu page. The standard package notification email is demonstrated below.

If documents cannot be found for a given request, or if the document requested cannot be confirmed as part of a current purchase order or active request for

quote (RFQ), you will see messages indicating the results of the request as shown above.

If you select a document that is listed on a valid purchase order or active RFQ, but has been give a restricted status by Cessna, you will see the results above.

Restricted documents are excluded from this automated request system and must be sent to you by a Cessna employee.

If you select a Beechcraft document that has not been confirmed against an open Purchase Order/RFP/RFQ/Contract/Agreement, you will see the results above.

As a supplier, you will be able to request only those documents which are confirmed by a Textron Aviation Supply Chain document.
