BEER BOTTLES IN PET AS PART OF SABMILLER'S SUSTAINABLE AGENDA SABMiller, one of India's premier beer manufacturers, launches the first-ever PET bottling line on the Indian subcontinent

Rapid growth and fast-emerging markets Over twenty one years, SABMiller plc has grown from its original South African base into a global operation with a wide portfolio of brands, such as Pilsner Urquell, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Miller Genuine Draft and Grolsch. It is also one of the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola products with a wide range of markets. In Maharashtra, the company is currently launching Haywards 5000, Knockout and Foster's beer brands in one-litre PET bottles with plans to expand throughout the country.

A market dominated by returnable glass bottles The new PET line - the first-ever in the South East Asia and Pacific region - is part of the company's global 'sustainable packaging' strategy and part of its wider sustainable development agenda. The company has previously gained experience of bottling beer in PET in Eastern Europe and invested in the Sidel technology along with flash pasteurisation, bottle dryers and warmers and preform dumper to combat any challenges.

SABMiller is one of the largest brewers, with interests and distribution agreements across six continents. It is also one of the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola products in the world.
