Being the best we can be for ourselves and God’s world Newsletter No. 11 8 th June 2017 Dear Parents It is wonderful to welcome you all back after the half-term. Luckily the weather during half-term was a lot more favourable than it has been this week. Unfortunately, our outdoor Pentecost service wasn’t able to take place but that didn’t stop us - we went ahead in the school hall. Rev Nev led a joyous service; a super start to the last half- term of the academic year. Thank you to all of you who supported your children in creating their Pentecost doves we have a wonderful display of colourful doves in our hall that celebrate all the children’s gifts and talents. We have several dates for your diary in our diary section with our Summer Fayre and evening barbecue, the Phase 3 Musical Production and Sports Day to name but a few! We look forward to welcoming you to school for these events and of course for parents evenings which will run over 2 weeks from the week beginning the 3rd July. New Arrangements of Celebration of Learning Collective Worship in Phase 1 We are making some changes to the way that we run Celebration Collective worship for Phase 1 this half-term as we want to give parents and carers additional opportunities to spend time with your child’s class teacher and to be even more informed about what goes on in the classroom. This half-term we are going to trial a shorter collective worship where children will share one of their favourite songs with you and a few pieces of writing or some pictures before we give out the headteacher’s awards. Later that day, at 2.30pm, you will be invited into your child’s class to see ‘Learning in Action’ with your child and then will have the opportunity to talk to your child’s class teacher about ways in which you can support your child’s learning at home. The first 15 minutes will be spent in the classroom and the rest of the time will be spent in the well-being room with your child’s teacher. At the end of the term we will be asking for your feedback about this new approach and will use it to inform future plans.

Welcome To St Martins Board

We will soon be having a new Welcome to St Martin’s Board outside of the Reception. We would like to make sure that this board is inclusive of everyone. Therefore we are asking for parents/ carers help with the following: Does your child or family speak more than one language? Would you be willing for a picture of your child to go on to the board with a speech bubble that has “ welcome to our school” written in their native tongue or additional language? If you would like your child to take part in this project please contact our Senco Nenny Wright.
