    1. Hamd and Nat

All praises are due to Allah who has created us and arranged rewards and punishmentsfor us to be meted out on the basis of our performances on this earth. Peace and blessingsbe upon the last and the final Prophet Muhammad (saas) who showed us the right wayand informed us about the actual status of the life in the Hereafter through a graphicdiscussion of it.

    2. Introduction and Address to the Young:

Dear brothers and sisters! This is a rare opportunity for me to speak in front of the futureleader of the nation and the Ummah. Who knows that there is perhaps a Umar who uponbecoming Muslim declared to propagate Islam amidst the vehement opposition of thearistocrats of the society and did not take rest until Islam was ultimately established andbecame the sole super power of the world, or anyone like Tareq bin Jabalwho crossedthe Mediterranean to save an innocent womans life from the hands of the oppressorRoderick, or like Muhammad bin Qasim, a young of 16/17 years who destroyed thearrogance of pagan Indian and ultimahere in the sub-continent.

Dear friends! This is the real time in our life to wake up and do the needful for Islam andfor the Ummah and in this way ensure our salvation in this life and the Hereafter. This is

the greatest season in our life and this is why we will be asked for this period of life themost. Listen to the Hadith of the Prophet about the best utilization and maximumexploitation of this season:

Dear friends! Look at the lives of the Prophet, including the Prophet of Islam, they wereassisted by the younger generations and opposed by the older section of people. We are torise us to become like the lions of our beloved pious predecessors.

This will happen when we will have the proper understanding of Islam and fear ofstanding in front of Allah in khirah. Look at Hazrat Umar again and see that only thefear of accountability in khirah made him one of the times...............................Otherwise we will only enlarge the number of the Ummar andwill eventually come to naught for the Ummahs recovery from this ignominioussituation. There is a line of a poem of our beloved poet:

The Prophet indicated to this situation when he said:

    3. Obligation of belief in the khirah and importance of thisbelief.

Belief in the khirah is one of the fundamental articles ofIslamic belief system, the absence of or lack in which make a person Kkir. Seeverse number 04 of Sura al-Baqara.

This belief means that there would be life after death when we will be given therewards of our worldly activities and this belief really makes us different from othercommunities. Allah says in Sura al-Jasiyah, verse no. 21-22:

    ) 21) (22 )

Knowledge and resultant fear of khirah makes a person freefrom committing any sin: ishah (r) said:

    (a) This is why the Makkan Quran was preoccupied with the narration of khirah and gaveits graphic description.

    (b) In todays world we have the knowledge of good and bad, still we commit sins, because

of a proper knowledge or perfect/ unadulterated fear ofkhirah. the Prophet says:

If you could see what I see you must cried more and laughed less.Ali (R) said: If I were shown Jannat or Jahannam, I could not love or fear more...

    (c) In 1930, US government enacted a law prohibiting alcohol, and upon protest frompeople, spending billions of dollars and killing many people and arresting thousands, and seeing that every household became centre of alcohol production and consumptionin secret thus pollution the whole environment, withdrew the law. While The Quranuprooted it from the abruptly alcoholic Arab society with a single utterance in sura al-Maedah:

) ( 90 Hazrat Anas ibn Malik narrates that I was serving alcohol to people while theannouncement of this prohibition was made and I threw up the glasses and people alsodid so and the whole city of madinah and its streets were flooded with alcohol.

The story of a boy during the era of Umar (R)whose devotion and regular appearance in the mosque surprised Umar, after Ishaprayer the boy would go to his fathers service. Once he was late being interrupted bya beautiful woman, lured by her to make love with her, suddenly remembered theAyah of the Quran, sura al-Araf:

    ) 201) (202 )

and fell fainted, after long his father came in his search, found him there, brought him, madehim awaken, heard the story, again he fainted and died. Umar heard the story the next morning

and visited his grave and recited this verse of sura al-Rahman: ) ( 46Dear brothers! The graphic and horrible accounts given in the Quran and Sunnah are soterrifying that people who have an iota of Iman could not control himself, will at least shed tearsand feel bleak and gloomy. This is a real manifestation of your Iman: Allah says in Sura al-Baqara verse 74: .

    4. Different stages of the life of khirah and their graphicdescription:

There are many stages which the people will have to pass to reach his final destination inthe Paradise or Hellfire. The first is Death:

    A) Arrival of death:

    (i) Every one will have the taste of death. Allah says in Sura al-Baqara:

Death would come at an appointed date and place, not a single split second before orafter, it will embrace if the person is in any cropper-built house. Allah says in Sura al-Araf verse 34:

Again in Sura al-Baqara 243: There is a story narrated by Hazrat Khaithamah (R) that Azrael Angel once

visited Solomon (A) and there he seemed very astonished looking at a manwhich both Solomon and the man observed. When he disappeared the man askedSolomon about the stranger, knew his real identity, got apprehended, requestedSolomon to send him hurriedly to China to escape from Azraels wrath, Solomonordered the air to reach him to China, Azrael then appeared in China and tookoff his life, then came once to Solomon, He asked him about his horrifying lookat the man, he informed that he was supposed to take his life off after a fewseconds in China while he was still in Solomons court........ A story in Riyad of KSA

Dua of Hazrat Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet:

(ii) Experiences of death (sakratul maut): The death has been described by Allah to be ahorrible experience. The people will have two experiences during death; will seek arespite for some days or moments, and will understand his final destination. Look atthe following Ayat of Sura al-Munafiqun, Sura al-Anfal and Sura al-Nahl:

Horrible appearance of Azrael and the incident with Hazrat Ibraheem (A):Azrael came to Ibraheem from Allah with the title Khalilullah (friend ofAllah)...He asked him show him his real appearance which he adopts during

taking off lives of people. He informed that that is horrible and Ibraheem couldnot bear that, still upon his insistence he assumed the real appearance withterribly long and horribly wide body while from his wide mouth flaming fire wasemerging, every hair root is like fireman emerging fire, seeing this Ibraheemfainted... then he asked him to show his appearance while taking a pious manslife...he assumed a handsome smart young mans shape with elegant dressattractive to be looked at....

(iii) Preparation and remembrance of death: We will have to remain very much readyfor death. It was the custom of the pious predecessors.

    . : : .

The story of Bilal (R) while death approached him and his wife regrettedhis disappearance, and he remarked: How fortunate I am to meet the belovedProphet and his Companions very soon. The implore of Muadh (R) to Allah while death approached him saying: OAllah You know that I wanted to live more, not for enjoyment and cultivation, but so that I could enjoy the sufferings of heat and hot of fasting in a summerday, working for your Deen, and remembering You.. There were two people in a village, one is more pious than the other. Whendeath approached, both of them were asked by the angel of death to have theirlast appeal to Allah. The more pious one said, I have not appeal, you please take

off my soul, I have been waiting for this moment since long to meet my Lord. While the other person appealed to be given time to perform two rakats ofprayer.

    : : . . : : :

    : . . : . : . A man was not allowed by the grave to remain within it.

Uthman (R) would cry whenever he would see any grave. He was onceasked by someone as to why he did so. He replied, This is the first step ofAkhirah, whosoever passes it easily will pass easily all other hurdles. The person is shown his residence in either Paradise or Hellfire everymorning and evening in the graves:

    : .

    D) Arrival in the Field of Gathering (Maidan al-Hashr), and its horror

People will be resurrected and will gather in a field for giving accounts infront of Allah. The will be raised bare-footed, bare-clothed.

    . : : : : .

People will be divided into many groups on the basis of their pious activities: ) 59

    (

) 60 ) The sun will be just above the head and people will suffer from the horribleheat of sun and cries of people. The story of Hazrat Umar (R): Abbas narrates thathe implored Allah to let him see Umar after his death. Umar appeared in his dream

and he was seemed to be tired and was wiping his sweat. Abbas asked hiscondition and Umar replied: I escaped very narrowly, just now I finished myaccounts and if there was not Allahs mercy, I could not have escaped. ...This iswhy the Prophet said, none even He himself will not paradise on the basis of onesgood activities, except Allahs mercy is shown...

The story of a man undergone surgical operation....

    E) Paradise:

In Paradise people will get everything they wish and desire. All sorts of

food, drinks, amusements ect. will be ready for them within their very easy reach.

In fact the arrangements in the paradises are beyond our wildest imagination. Lookat the following Ayats and Hadiths:

    ) 31 ( ( 32 )

    ) 15 )

    The Prophet said:

The people will have pleasant mates there who are pure from any physicaldeficiency, free from natural call, and free of getting any sort of physical impurity. (Sura Maeda 57) Story of a Habshi Sahabi about whether there would be any differencebetween the residents of Jannat having the same amount of virtues....The Prophet

said: Every one in the Paradise will be so bright and pleasant that ones brightnessof body be seen even from a distance of thousands of miles...

    F) Hellfire:

    (i) Jahannam is so obnoxious a place that even many parts of Jahannam seek shelter toAllah from other parts. Our pious predecessors also would always cry because of thefear of Jahannam. It is narrated that Hazrat Ibrahim Adham would cry a lot. When he wasasked why did he cry much, he replied, how can a man remain complacent in thisworldly life when he does not know where is his abode, Jahannam or Jannat?

Ibnul Mubarak narrated an incident: : :

(ii) Its size: We can imagine it from an incident. The Prophet was sitting with HisCompanions. They heard a sound. The Prophet narrated upon their inquiry:That was a stone thrown into Hell seventy years ago and it is yet in the way (theother side) of Hell until now.Another Hadith says: If a stone as big as seven pregnant camels was thrown fromthe edge of Hell, it would fly through it for seventy years, and yet it would not reach

the bottom.(iii) Its fuel and clothing: People and stones will be fuel of the Hellfire: (66:6, 14: 49-

    50) ) ( 6

) 49) (50 ) A boy of eight years went to the school to study. Once he fainted, broughtto his residence, was asked but could not speak, a pious man assured to help himthen he spoke and said that he heard Jahannams fuel will be man and stone, andhe saw his mother lit fire in the burner with small wood first, he became afraid

whether Allah will lit fire in the Jahannam with small boys like him.

They will be given to drink boiling water, so that it cuts up theirbowels (to pieces). (Quran 47:15)

The Prophet said: If a drop from Zaqqum were to land in this world, the people ofearth and all their means of sustenance would rot. So how must it be for one whomust eat it (Tirmidhi).

Another food served to the people of Hell will be festering puss that oozes out of their

skin, the discharge that flows from the private parts of adulterers and the decaying skinand flesh of those being burnt. It is the juice of the people of Hell. God says:

So no friend has he here this Day, nor has he any food except filthfrom the washing of wounds which none do eat but those in sin.(Quran 69:35-37)

(vi)Horror of the punishment: The horror and intensity of the Fire is enough to make a manlose his mind. He would be willing to give up everything he holds dear to be saved from it,but he never will be. God says:

The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from thepunishment of that Day by his children, and his wife and his brother, and his nearest kindred who shelter him, and all all that is on earth so it could save him. No! Indeed, it is the Flame (of Hell), pluckingout (his being) tight to the skull! (Quran 70:11-16)

The Prophet spoke of the lightest punishment in Hell:

The person who will receive the least punishment among the peopleof Hell on the Day Resurrection will be a man, a smoldering emberwill be placed under the arch of his foot. His brains will boil becauseof it. (Sahih Bukhari)

This person will think no one else is being punished more severely than himself, eventhough he will be the one receiving the lightest punishment. (Sahih Muslim)

One of the ways God will humiliate the sinful in Hell is by gathering them onJudgment Day on their faces, blind, deaf, and dumb.

and We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection (fallen) ontheir faces blind, dumb and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; every timeit subsides We increase them in blazing fire. (Quran 17:97)

Another painful punishment of unbelievers will be that they will be dragged on theirfaces while they are tied in chains and fettered:

Those who deny the Book (the Quran) and that with which We sentOur messengers they are going to know, when the shackles arearound their necks and the chains; they will be dragged in boilingwater; then in the Fire they will be filled (with flame). (Quran40:70-72)

They will weep until no tears are left, then that they will weep blood, whichwill leave its traces as described by the Prophet:

The people of Hell will be made to weep, and they will weep until

they have no tears left. Then they will weep blood until they have, as
