MAHY PRANCES SENDS

Greetings to each of youl I writethis with mixed emotions, indeed. AsI look back over the past months, Iwonder at the rapidity with whichthe time has gone. I think of themany events that have taken placeand I count it a blessing to havebeen home on furlough.

r^any memories will go with me asonce again the miles separate us....the reunion with loves ones; therelief and thankfulness for the success of Charles' operation on hiseyes; then of the many upliftingservices we have been able to attendwith so many of the congregations.I think of the missionary meetingswith their vital outlook; the lovelymother-daughter banquets; the womensretreats; and the Inspiring Faith-Promise rallies as the challenge isgiven and received with new earnestness in my heart, as well as in thehearts of those who send.

I remember the thoughtful questionasked by the awe-eyed Junior atChristian service camp and I praythis Interest will remain alive, Ithink of the firm handshake and wordof encouragement spoken by the faithful deacon of a supporting church. Ifeel the aging arms, tired from life's toil, of the dear Christian woman asshe expresses her joy in hearing of the Good News being spread to the world.

Yes, theyou!

memories are many To each of you, let me say—sincerely—thank

One cannot linger always on memories but must look forward. I look forwardto seeing those who have become dear to us in Zambia, I look forward, withrenewed hope and zeal, to another term of service as a missionary wife andmother. Yes, I look forward to tomorrow. As the well-known song goes, Idon't know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds my hand. I pray thatwith His help tomorrow, I can do my part in bringing light to many of thosenow in darkness.

Dear Friends,

We greet you with happiness! At this time of theyear, we have many reasons to be happy. We rejoiceIn this season of remembering Christ's birth. Wegive thanks for the fruitful year that Is ending andlook forward with renewed zeal to the new year thatIs approaching.

We are thankful for the safe trip back to Lusaka,Our home was In good condition and we moved In without too many difficulties.

Also, to return to Lusaka after being away for a yearand see the continuing faithfulness of the Christianshere, will give us greater zeal for the Lord's workIn the future. We are so thankful for this!

We are confronted at this time with the necessity ofpaying for our travel expenses back to Lusaka, as weleft Cincinnati before we had actually acquired travelfunds. We felt It best to return to the work herejust as soon as It could be done. We have placed ourconfidence In you In the past and have faith that theLord, through you, will provide the necessities toaccomplish His purposes for this part of the world.Above all, we wish to have your prayers, and we appreciate so much your support In the past—especially formy eye surgery, which has proved to be successful.

We think of all of our friends In the States so oftenand find It difficult to express the enjoyment ourfellowship with you has brought to us. For those wewere unable to visit because of lack of time or funds,we nevertheless think of you and hope that when wereturn again In a few years, It will be possible tosee you-also. May God bless each of you according toyour need.

A MOTE FROM TODD & JULIE

''• & wasn't. It was really exciting

I have many friends here in Af- mt . ;•rica hut I miss my friends in Hgthe United States. I really miss ^ wagplhaving ice cream as it is so hot l

IIHIii^^^^^HiB here it melts before we can gethome with it.

Mommie wants a third grade spelling book so that she can teach me to spellso that I can write to you personally. I think my Aunt Lorna is going tosend one. Julie is too little to write but she is waving "hi" to all of you.

MARY PRANCES WHITES...

It was a real shock to learn the cost of living here is so much higher—nowonder the African eats so much dried fish and corn mush!

Today they had cream cheese in the shops so I bought some for a cheese cake—it was only ^^1,-^0, but I thought it would be worth it for a treat. Wehaven't had a drop of fresh milk since arriving. Even the milk at the dairyis powdered and mixed up and sold in cartons. I would give anything for aglass of milk from the dairy store in Cincinnati! I've lost seven poundssince arriving in Lusaka. I know it is "ice cream dehydration." I wouldalso give anything for a pineapple milkshake!

It is so hot I ^ind- Lt-hard to get in a festive mood. I enjoy making fruitcakes and other such things in cold weather (July here), but not now when itis so hot.

I haven't had a refrigerator since arriving, but founduntil ours arrives from the States.
