There’s something ironically comforting when the seams of everything you’ve ever worked for finally burst apart, the insides of you exploding all over your carefully constructed world. Like in the eye of the storm, everything suddenly stops whirling, and you stop - you stop trying. Because it’s too late to scavenge for broken pieces or make futile attempts at saving face. It’s just done. Done.

Yet it’s the first time you’ve slept, like really slept in years because it’s the first time your brain had no reason to be awake. And it’s the first time you’ve honestly not cared what anyone thinks because they couldn’t possibly think any worse than they do now. There’s nothing left to fear when the worst is done, so you just be, and you’ve never felt peace like that, not in all your happiest moments combined.
