Membership Renewals
A large number of people have STILL not paid up asmembers this year. Now that the snow has gone for2010/11 theres no longer any excuse not to get along tothe ski centre to hand your forms and money in.
The club funds many team and individual cross country/
road relay races so it is only fair that all those competing
are club members. For example the club pays 4 per person
for the West District X country relays coming up.

Brendan was initially reluctant to do an articleabout his and Janes fantastic Transalpine ex-periences, fearing it was too long ago and eve-ryone would be bored of his tales by now. However a little(ish) Border Collie who goes
by the name of Tibbie Doo and has gone run-
ning with him on the odd occasion disagreedand talked him into meeting in a car park atone of her favourite dogging sites* for a chatabout the race.*It means something completely different to a
3 year old Collie as does internet grooming.
Tibbie runs in Rogz collars, Mikki Jogging Lead
and Ruffwear Webmaster Harness but not prettyRed Ruffwear Bark 'n Boots Grip Trex (unleash theinner athlete) due to owner meanness. 15% of the
proceeds of this interview will be spent on gravybones.

Saturday 13th November saw the first ever running of the Jimmy Irvine AchillesHeel Bella 10K. The race celebrates 10 years of both Bellahouston Road Runnersand Achilles Heel. Almost 400 runners took to the start in truly autumnalconditions in Bellahouston Park. Rain, sunshine and windy conditions all played apart in the days performances.

Three male and almost two female teams frontedBella's first foray into relay cross-country for2010/11. An ideal day for running, with relativelygood conditions underfoot meant that the only realexcuses for the difficult runs were lack of fitness, and the race starters going a bit prematurely. Bothmale and females completed two 2k laps ofpicturesque Rouken Glen Park.
Cross-country debutants and stalwarts alikecombined for some decent performances, with Maleteams finishing in 10th, 30th and 45th places, withthe complete female team coming in 20th. Notableperformances include Peter Davenport (aka CiaranDougherty) who was in the toilet when the racestarted and he was scheduled for leg 1, and LouiseRoss for a confidence-boosting return to
competitive running.
First cross-country races of the year (or many, many years as was the case for some), are usuallyfollowed by comments such as: "Now I remember why I hated cross-country at high school", or "The first lap wasOK, the second was awful".
Bring on the Renfrewshire and Nationals!

Ive heard it described as the Glasgow club
runners cup final day and it certainly feels a bit
like that when your a Bella runner with shouts
of either your name or come on Bella as on
every street (Top Tip - if you can find a
Harrier quick enough to stay with you get
double the shouts). For some reason (possibly
the heat remember that) this year PBs were a
little thin on the ground. There were still some
notable performances with Skye runner
Hugh Campbell making his debut in the purple
vest and producing a stunning 1.11.02 to finish
first Bella and 19th
overall followed by club
championship clinching Kenny Richmond 3rd
V40 in 1.14.20 and Scott Kennedy getting a
seasons best of 1.15.23. Alastair Maclachlan
was 4th
V50 in 1.21.06 and Hamish Barbour
was 4th
V45 in 1.22.29. For the ladies
Rebecca Johnson was first V40 and Bella
home in 1.26.58 followed by Debs Grey 5thV35 in 1.28.02.
