Belton ISD Update BeltonISDcontinueswithsustainedgrowthandhasarecordenrollmentofapproximately8,300studentsforthe07-08schoolyear.Thenewestelementarycampus,TarverElementary,namedforformerBISDeducator,AliceJ.Tarver(1883-1911),openedinAugustwithabout380students.Ultimatecapacityisabout800students.AnewswimcenteratBeltonHighSchoolalsoopenedinOctoberforstudentuseandwillopenforcommunityswimtimesinJanuary.TheRoyandJeanPottsBeltonSwimCenterhonorsthePottsfortheirdonationin2000towardbuildingaswimcenter.Mr.Potts,a1944BHSgraduate,isstillanavidswimmer. AnorchestraprogramhasalsobeenestablishedatbothBeltonMiddleandLakeBeltonMiddleSchoolsandBeltonHighSchool.Theorchestraandconductor,ShelleyBlalock,madetheirdebutattheDonorRecognitionandAlumni/FriendsWalkwaydedicationonOct.6. Superintendent,Dr.VivianBaker,continuestoleadBeltonISDtoattainexcellenceatalllevels.

BEEF Holds Donor Event and Alumni/ Friends Brick Walkway Dedication

TheBeltonEducationalEnrichmentFoundationheldthededicationofthenewAlumniandFriendsBrickWalkwayonSaturday,Oct.6,attheBeltonHighSchoolCommons.Donorswhohavecontributed$500.00ormoretotheFoundationwerealsorecognized.ThenewlyestablishedBHSorchestraandtheBHSMadrigalprovidedentertainment.JoePirtle,BEEFPresident,presidedattheevent.CaseyClanton,recipientoftheDr.VivianBakerScholarshipin2006,thankedthosepresentfortheirsupportoftheFoundation.JudyOwens,FoundationAdministrator,reportedthattheFoundationisapproximately$800,000towardthegoalfor“Raising$1,000.000bytheEndoftheDecade.” TheAlumniandFriendsBrickWalkwaywasestablishedtohelpraisefundsfortheFoundationandprovidealastingtributetobothalumniandfriendsofBeltonISD.Approximately183brickshavebeensoldandareondisplayinthewalkwayatthefrontofBeltonHighSchool.TheFoundationwillcontinuetosellbricks,withnewbrickslaideachsummerthatwerepurchasedtheprecedingyear.Bricksare$50eachandmaycontainthreelinesofinformation,fourteencharacters,includingspaces,perline.Abrickorderformisincludedonthefollowingpage.

BEEF Prize Patrol Awards Teacher /Para Grants Administrators,BISDBoard,andtheBEEFBoard,werepartoftheannualPrizePatrolonDec.5toawardteachergrantsforclassroomenrichmentandparapro-fessionalgrantsforcontinuingeducation.InitssixthyearfortheFoundationtofundteachergrants,thetotalamountforthisyear’sgrantawardstotwenty-onerecipientsis$30,058.28.Thirty-seventeachergrantapplicationsandeightparaprofessionalapplicationswerereceivedforconsiderationbytheFoundation,witheighteenteachergrantsandthreeparaprofessionalgrantsawarded.

To commemorate your years at Belton High School, to honor a recent graduate, friend, family

member, or teacher, the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation offers you the opportunity to purchase a brick for the Belton ISD Alumni & Friends Brick Walkway at the front of Belton High School.

The inaugural installation of the bricks was October 6, 2007. In the future, new brick orders will be installed each summer as orders are accumulated.

All of the proceeds from these brick sales will go toward BEEF to help meet the needs of Belton ISD students and teachers through scholarships and classroom grants.
