Dear Christ ian Friends,

A lo t

of important thii^gs

happened

in the

month

of August, One was - fl

our fourth wedding anniversaiy . flT S

which

we

celebrated by getting S »

our things

through

customs, f

  oing

through customs was

an

had been

The

ship.

President Van V^

Buren, was to

arrive

on August 16,

but

because

of

a typhoon

i t

was HI^SBHR r

delayed

t i l l

the 17th (our anniver-L ^ |

sary).

I went

to

Keelung,

the kv

M

port city, to get

them,

but there : I B

were so mapy

ships still

in har- . [ 9

bor that

ours

hadn t

even gotten

HB^B^^9|BB^HIv / m r iB

to the

dock. That

was

on

Saturday

back

following I B

and we spent

all

of Mon anniversary

day morning going

from desk to desk

to o ffic ia l t iying

to

get our papers in order. At 11:00,

af te r miles of walkir^

and

even a boat r ide o r

two,

I f inally

got to see

our things. Almost

immediately I noticed

that

a lock was off one of

our

barrelB and

that one cra te was

badly

damaged, I feared tha t some

of

our

things had been s tolen

or danaged, but I soon saw that

everything was a lr igh t A customs i rapector

told

rae I had to

open

every crate and two o f

our bar re l s After about an hour of such

work

we

were

f inished

and

I

t hou^ t

we

were

ready

to take

the th i rgs

home.

Then the Chinese man

I had

hired as

my customs broker to ld me we

were only

half through.

The docks closed down a t

1:00

P.M.

so

I had to go home

and

come back

the

next

morning a t

7:00.

At

1:00

P.M. on T^esda^r,

August

20th,

we had

our

things

a t

our

new

house and 500 less

in the

bank as a resiilt. ]2ven

a t th is people

said

we

got off easy.

Vow*

Ve

are

thankful, though,

to teve

our things nw and we hope that

our

experiences can help the

other

r ecru i t s

v^o are coming to

Taiwan.

A week before

we

got our things through customs we signed a one

year

lease on a

house.

In

China

you have to pay a t le as t six months rent in

advance which took another

big hunk out

of

our bank account.

This

is alr ight though, since th is

is

why the Lord gave i t to us. He

has supplied our eveiT. - need.

Our house

is

located close to severa l colleges mst

as

we had hoped and i t has a nice

b ig

room

in frort

which we want to use

for oiu* student, meetings. I t has

an outs id e

door

to

tha t

roan

so i t

is

veiy

convienent. Right now we are s t i l l living

a t l-fother s house while

she

are some examples of i ts importance,

though.

There

were two Sundays on

which

Mr. Suen

my

t r ans la tor couldn t be there, so I had

to speak

in

English

without a t ransla tor . Of course

most of the people couldn t understand me

and

th e sub.iect was so inpor tant tha t I almost

cried,

Just

this

week I spoke to four college

students

that were meeting here

a t

th e

house.

After

speaking for about forty

minutes

on vhy I believed

the B ible,

one of them said,   I wish yo u

could

speak

to

us

in Chinese.

Since we wrote

there have

been

t v/ o more

addit ions

to

the Lord s

Body

of which

we

are

very

thankful

to

the Lord. These

were

brought to Christ

by Mrs

Lill ian

Martin,

a

here.

She

has now moved

to

to

begin

her

orphanage.

that was where he was going anyway. He

were amazed

to find

The only other
