NIAGARA THERAPY PRESENTATION We are just so grateful to be the lucky recipient of over $33,000 worth of specialised Cycloidal Vibration

Therapy (CVT) equipment as part of the Niagara Therapy Fairyland Centres; the philanthropic arm of this

amazing Australian owned business. On Tuesday 19th March, the multipurpose room was crowded with

and bulldozer, a full body therapy recliner, three thermos cycloidal pads and three CVT hand units. We are

2018 ANNUAL REPORT You will find the 2018 Annual Report attached to this newsletter. This report has been endorsed by School

Council, and is the required report back to the school and wider community about our progress against our

learning goals in 2018. It is a wonderful story of the large steps forward in our staff teaching skills and

practice, and the subsequent positive learning outcomes for our students. We should all be very proud of

our collective achievements as a school community, and as parent and carers of our students, you are a vital

key component of that success. Thank you for your continued dedication to our school and your child’s

learning. If you have any questions about the Annual Report, please do not hesitate to contact me.

OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE (OSHC) Recently, our school was privileged to be able to join the After School Care program that has been made

available, free for all families by the Department of Education and Training, as part of the Outside School

Hours Care Demonstration Program. We, at Bendigo SDS, are thankful for the work of Distinctive Options

as the provider in the first phase of this program. From the beginning of Term 2, final negotiations are

occurring for a new supplier to provide Outside School Hours Care, including after school and holiday

programs, on our site. Once contract negotiations have been completed, information about the enrolment

process and the commencement date for the Outside School Hours Care and the subsequent holidays

programs for Term 2,3 and over the Christmas holidays will be made available. In the interim, you can

contact me to find out more information.

GOOD BYE AND GOOD LUCK We wish Brigitte, one of our amazing teachers, every joy and happiness for the most extraordinary journey

that she will be undertaking for the next 12 months and beyond. Brigitte will be taking 12 months parental

leave from our school, with her final day being today, Friday 22nd March, as she is about to become the

permanent carer of a beautiful little girl named Ruby. We know that Brigitte will be a brilliant mother for

Ruby, and that Ruby will bring endless happiness to Brigitte and her family. We look forward to meeting

Ruby in the future and wish the happy new family, every best wish.

MONDAY 29TH APRIL DINNER DATE It will be wonderful to see as many families as possible at the Bendigo Stadium, to be part of a fundraiser

that Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club will be hosting for our benefit. The school will receive 30% of all meals

ordered on the night, so please join the entire school community for a chance to have a meal and a chat

and have a night off from cooking, whilst raising much-needed funds for the school. It is a true WIN WIN

night!

END OF TERM A reminder that school finished early on Friday 5th April for the start of the Easter Holidays. School will finish

an hour earlier, at 2.00 pm, meaning that buses will leave here an hour earlier than usual. School then

resumes for Term 2 on Tuesday 23rd April, as Easter is the last weekend of the holidays. This will be a short

school week, as Thursday will be a public holiday for the observance of ANZAC Day.

HOSPITAL PASSPORT INFORMATION SESSION

1ST APRIL 9:00AM @

PARENT HELPING PARENT GATHERING

Hospital (and any medical visits) can be very difficult for

many of our children. Bendigo Health, in conjunction with

some of our parents, have created this document where we

let staff know what our children need to feel comfortable

and safe in a hospital setting. It covers things such as what

not to say! or what not to do! This file then sits in the

hospital file and be accessed in the case of an emergency

or for a planned procedure.

Come along on Monday the 1st of April and we will fill them

out together and ensure that your child has their own

HOSPITAL PASSPORT ready to go. This means when you are

in a crisis you will not have to explain to individual staff what

your child needs. Some of our parents filled these out last

year and found them extremely useful. We are hoping for

most families can join in this great partnership between

Bendigo Health and BSDS.

Hi Dads, this one is for you

Often dads get a little left out of the equation at times. We need strong mums and dads, and if you are free, this is a great course. It would be great if a few dads were interested in going, on your own or together. If you are interested, please let me know or book yourself in.

Kangaroo Flat Rotary have offered to have a

dinner at the Schweppes Centre and raise funds for the school…..

Monday 29th April at 6.30pm.

We would love to see families, relatives, friends and staff, past and

Hi all this is a great environment for some of our kids as there is plenty of

room and it is free. Why not grab a friend from school and go together as a

few families. The playground here is also much loved. Make the most of our

ending (or continuing summer!!)……….
