Who we are

IKT 2014 – Infrastructure Knowledge and Technology

• AGFW is the independent and impartial association in Germany promotingenergy efficiency, (district) heating, cooling and CHP at national andinternational levels

• AGFW reunites round about 500 (regional and municipal) district energysuppliers, consultants and industrial operators of this industry (componentand system manufacturers, manufacturing and assembling companies, testing institutes, …) in Germany and Europe

• AGFW represents over 95 % of the heat load connected to German districtheating systems – the largest scale in Western Europe.

• AGFW means over 40 years of experience in this field. Established 1971we have a long and distinguished track record of delivering energyefficiency solutions to our members and to the society

Success factors of solar local and district heating

"A key success factor is the involvement of one or more local actors with know-how and interest in the implementation and demonstration of this technology. These are usually a municipality, local utilities, based manufacturer, or a combination of these actors. "

Opportunities for solar local and district heating

In many cases replacing heat from CHP is neither economically nor ecologically recommendable or feasible!

A useful integration of solar thermal into district heating is given for cases where

heating-only plants or peak load heating plants are replacedCHP is no more competitive as base loadthe CHP share is increased by using large heat stores for both CHP and solarspecific RES heat shares or primary energy factors are required/requestednew business models are appliedCHP capacity limits are reached, e.g. with heating net extension or compressionother CHP control strategies are relevant in the future .…
