Recycled Matching and Memory Game. We will explore the wordrecycle together, and create a matching and memory game usingcardboard.

MON

A Boat that Floats! Using items found from around your home, wewill create a boat that will float and observe the shapes, colors, andsizes of boats.

TUES

Painting without a Paintbrush! We will paint using tinfoil & Q-Tipsand allow ourselves to feel inspired from various illustrations andartwork.

WED

A Cereal Puzzle! We will explore puzzle-making using cereal boxes.With simple lines and shapes, we will practice cutting out the piecesand putting them together again.

THURS

The Number Shaker Game! We will explore egg cartons anddifferent ways to incorporate math learning with them! We willmake a “number shaker game” using an egg carton.

FRI

Recycle, Reuse and Create! This week we will think about the Earth and how we can reuse and recycle materials to

create and inspire new ideas!

CREATIVE PLAY

Creative Play with Mrs. Cunningham is aReggio inspired creative and play-basedexploration program for PreK to Grade 1(Ages 3-6) where students can exploreideas and investigate the world they livein. Each day, Mrs. Cunningham inspirescuriosity through home-based provocationsand creative play inspiring students toexplore and develop their creative thinking.Children can join Mrs. Cunningham on adaily journey of creativity, stories and play.

MRS. CUNNINGHAM

For the past decade, Mrs. Cunningham hasenjoyed being an educator in EarlyChildhood classrooms in the Chicagolandarea, actively participating in theexploration and growth of many youngchildren. Clare completed herundergraduate at Saint Mary’s College inNotre Dame, Indiana with a Bachelor’s inElementary Education. After spending sometime in the classroom, she went back tostudy Child Development, receiving herMaster’s Degree from Erikson Institute in2017. While teaching, Clare has alwaysvalued the importance of nurturing a child’sinnate curiosity in the early stages of theirdevelopmental learning.

A CREATIVE PLAY & COZY CORNER

Creative PlayWeek 2

Recycle, Reuse, and Create!

MONDAYWe will explore the word recycle together, create a

matching and memory game using cardboard and you

will see all the recycled and reused items from Mrs.

Cunningham’s home.Equipment and Supplies

Pieces of Cardboard or an old shoebox (cut into

playing card size)

Markers or Crayons Stickers (optional)

Colored Paper (optional)

Glue (optional)Tips and Advice

It may be helpful to cut the cardboard before

watching the episode or pause to do this with your

child. You can also use popsicle sticks or paper, too!

Create a little cozy nook for your child to create, play,

and learn in.

Choose a quiet place and add a small table, a book

shelf with some books that are in easy reach to read

from.

Include some craft supplies such as pencils, washable

markers, and paints, paper (white and colored), glue

stick, crayons, and a pair of blunt tip scissors.

Arrange some stuffed animals, card games, coloring

books, small toys, and a pillow or two.

TUESDAY

A Boat that Floats! Using items found from around

your home, we will create a boat that will float and

observe the shapes, colors, and sizes of boats.

Equipment and Supplies

Recycled or materials (i.e.: cork, straws, plastic

containers, bottle lids, marker caps, paper rolls,

cardboard, water bottles, toothpicks etc)

Tape and Glue

Bowl of water or bath for testing floatation

Tips and Advice

Incorporate your child’s boat and our discussion

into bath time or water play this week.

THURSDAY

We will explore puzzle-making using cereal boxes.

Using simple lines and shapes. We will practice

cutting out the pieces and putting them together.

Equipment and Supplies

Scissors

Cereal boxes (or other food-like box)

Marker

Tips and Advice

You may want to pause or precut the front panel

of the cereal box. 4-5 simple and large shapes

are easiest for putting back together.

WEDNESDAY

In this episode we will paint using tinfoil & Q-Tips

and allow ourselves to feel inspired from various

illustrations and artwork.

Equipment and Supplies

Paints

Tinfoil

Q-tips

Newspaper, sheet or table cloth

Tips and Advice

If you don’t have Q-Tips, an alternative is making

paintbrushes with clothespins and cotton balls.

FRIDAY

We will explore egg cartons and different ways to

incorporate math learning with them! We will make

a “number shaker game” using an egg carton.

Equipment and Supplies

Egg Carton

Marker

1 small pom-pom (or small rock, marble, etc)

Dot stickers and materials for counting (i.e:

legos, blocks, playing cars, etc)

Tips and Advice

Activity can be modified for your child’s counting

and number awareness. For example, cut the egg

carton in half for a younger child and use low

numbers.
