Winery InteriorThe main level of the classic barn has been designed to be used for both case goods storage and wine tasting and sales. Wine Production Area
The lower level of the Barn has been completely rebuilt to accommodate all phases of wine production from primary fermentation to bottling and distribution. Floor drains, overheard pneumatic punch-down, natural cooling system, fork-lift access to upper deck, small, well-equipped lab area, are just some of the thoughtful design elements that result when a former physicist turned wine-maker converts a barn into a winery.
The Crush Pad
The covered crush pad area is an all-weather extension of the lower level of the winery. Fruit coming directly from the vineyard is hand sorted and de-stemmed on the pad, and taken directly into the fermentation area inside the lower winery. The current owner believes that the winery is capable of approx. 2000 case production within the currentbarn / winery. Expansion beyond this level could be easily facilitated by modifying adjacent buildings. The vineyard produces 700-1000 cases of wine depending on thevintage.
The FarmhouseThe original farm house was built around 1910, and has been updated nicely since. Some features include: updated kitchen, soaker tub, wine cellar, two fireplaces, finishedbasement and two old fashioned porches. Mt. Hood or vineyard views are to be seen from nearly every window. The detached garage includes a large shop area, and aclassic old walk-in refrigerator /cooler. There are several additional farm buildings that would be useful for a variety of purposes.
The VineyardThe old block (1/4 acre) of the Pinot Noir vineyard was planted in 1972 from cuttings that Dick Erath supplied. These grapes add a unique cinnamon note to the wine. The "new" vines were planted in 1979 by Bill Beran, and at 33 years old are still some of the oldest producing vines in Oregon. The vineyard is 7.25 acres of Pinot Noir growing in Laurelwood soils, which are very similar to the Jory soils of nearby Dundee that are famous for world class Pinot Noir production.
