What is high school dual enrollment?
Students attending a High School in Berkeley County, West Virginia may be enrolled in both
high school and college at the same time, while receiving college and high school credit
simultaneously. After the completion of their sophomore year, students should visit their high
school counselor to see if they are eligible for the Dual Enrollment Program.
Applying to the program is easy…
Meet with your counselor to complete the High School Dual Enrollment Application
Attach a Letter of Recommendation from Principal, Guidance Counselor, or Homeschool
Evaluator.
Include a signed Approval Form from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
Students wishing to enroll in an English or Math course at Shepherd must meet specific
ACT/SAT score requirements.
English 101: Minimum score on English section - 18 for ACT or 480 for SAT
Math 101: Minimum score on Math section - 19 for ACT or 500 for SAT
Math 105: Minimum score on Math section - 19 for ACT or 500 for SAT
Math 108: Minimum score on Math section - 22 for ACT or 540 for SAT
Math 207: Minimum score on Math section - 25 for ACT or 600 for SAT
Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher submitted on an official high school transcript.
Where are the classes offered?
The courses will be taught by Shepherd University faculty on the main campus in
Shepherdstown.
Will the classes transfer to other universities and/or colleges?
Yes! Shepherd is a regionally accredited university and courses will transfer. All of the
courses offered for dual enrollment are accepted at Shepherd University and/or are
transferrable to universities/colleges across the country. However, it is still important to
check at the specific institution just to make sure.
How much does it cost?
High school students will pay a discounted rate of $84 per credit.
Is there a deadline?
All students enrolled in High School Dual Enrollment must submit the application and
registration fee by the deadline below:
Fall Semester: April 1
Spring Semester: October 15
