Bernhard and Company (Ltd) developed from the expanding export division of the family business, Jeffery Bernhard and Sons Limited, who have long enjoyed a leading position in the UK horticulture, landscaping and nursery industries.

Bernhard’s considerable background knowledge and understanding of turf and its horticultural requirements come from a long history of immersion in this sector.

Stephen Bernhard, founder of Bernhard and Company, developed a special interest in the technical issues surrounding the mowing of turf, in particular the critical effect that reel grinding techniques had on mower performance, maintenance time and costs, and on the quality of turf that resulted from alternative approaches.

In 1972, Bernhard and Company started to export its refined version of the Express Dual and Anglemaster spin grinding system to golf courses and mower maintenance shops around the world. Now Bernhard and Company operates from two locations. Sales and Marketing are directed from our new administration centre in Rugby, along with Business Administration, Product Design, and Development and Concept Engineering.

Manufacturing continues a hundred miles away in Haverhill, Suffolk where the sharpening technology was first developed. Machines are hand-made individually by a proud and skilled team of engineers, many who have been with us since the beginning. The care in their workmanship allows us the confidence to offer a unique 10 year warranty.
