Various components were considered during the scoring process, such as HSE, PSM and fire-related elements. During the event, former KOC Deputy CEO Adnan Al-Aradi congratulated the winning facility staff for their success and commitment to HSE. The Best Facility Evaluation scheme for Operations Group (WK) was introduced for the first time in 2012/13 to promote HSE and bring a proactive approach among KOC employees on HSE issues. Six operating facilities in West Kuwait were covered under the Scheme, including GC-16, GC-17, GC-26, GC-28, MWIP and APH (Abdaliyah Pump House)

The program was intended to:

KOC CEO Hashim S. Hashim recently hailed what he called the “the genuine efforts” exerted by the Interior Bidding Committee (IBC) members during the past year. He maintained that their commitment to serve the best interests of KOC and the Company’s goals has not gone unnoticed.

The Career Development and Planning Team recently conducted an orientation session involving 30 KNPC employees. The session shed light on KOC’s core functions and operations.

During the session, a number of Groups within the Company, including Planning, Public Relations & Information, Development Drilling, Exploration and WK Production Operations, delivered presentations about their core functions and roles.

The presentations were well-received by the participants, who also expressed gratitude to the Company.

Land Remediation Group Visits KGOC-Saudi Chevron ZoneVisit aims to educate staff on soil remediation efforts

The Land Remediation Group recently conducted a field visit to the KGOC-Saudi Chevron Joint Operations Zone in Wafra in order to become familiar with efforts geared toward remediating the soil damaged by oil operations.

Kuwait Gulf Oil Company officials made a visual presentation which detailed the actions and projects carried out in order to remediate the

damaged soil. This was followed by a tour of the affected areas.

Toward the end of the visit, Team Leader Land Remediation (II) Fares Al-Mansouri expressed gratitude to Joint Operations Manager Shabeeb Al-Ajmi, Team Leader for Main Gathering Center Salam Al-Mufti, Team Leader for Major Projects in Wafra Ali Al-Abdullah, as well as Chevron and Joint Operations employees for their cooperation and hospitality.

Public Relations & Information Group Manager Sami Al-Juhaim recently highlighted the Group’s pivotal role in enhancing KOC’s image and articulated its plans, aspirations and achievements in such a way that befits its prominent standing and illustrious history.

In an exclusive statement to Energy, Al-Juhmaim noted that the various Teams within the Group act as a single unit that complement each other in the best interest of the Company and its employees in particular and the entire oil sector in general.

The Manager further indicated that the Group will embark upon an overall

assessment of its duties and discuss ideas and proposals so as to improve performance over the coming period, thereby solidifying KOC’s relationship with the community, which is a key priority for the Company.

He asserted that media is witnessing rapid developments and highlighted the need to take advantage of new media platforms in a meaningful manner.

Al-Juhaim concluded his statement by urging all employees to interact with the in-house-media, including the various publications as well as KOC’s social media sites. The Manager stressed that these media are there for the employees, and their success depends on their positive interaction.

The Fields Development Group (WK) has celebrated the graduation of a new batch of 39 students from Kuwait University’s Petroleum Engineering department who successfully completed a training program organized by the Group.

It’s worth mentioning that the students have taken part in a 6-week intensive training program during which they acquired skills in the domains of field development and oil production.

Toward the end of the program, the trainees delivered presentations about the projects they accomplished, and were subsequently awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their commitment to the program.

On the occasion, the Group organized a ceremony for the trainees, which was attended by faculty members and coaches.

The event was opened by former Group Manager Hassan Bunain, who commended the performance of the students. He also extended thanks to coaches from both KOC and Kuwait University, while calling for the strengthening of ties between the two sides in the best interest of the students.

Mud Logging Customized WorkshopIn coordination with Geolog Company

The Technical Personnel Development Team (TPD) recently organized a “Mud Logging Customized Workshop” in conjunction with the Geolog Company. Several employees representing various Groups within KOC took part in the event.

The opening session was attended by Senior Drilling Engineer Sherif Al-Awadi, who coordinated the event, and TPD Team Leader Essa Al-Daihani and Geolog Country Manager Mehrdad Janbakitsh.

Medical Periodic Checkup CampaignIntended to reach all KOC employees

KOC recently launched the Periodic Medical Checkup Campaign through a media awareness program that was conducted in collaboration with the Public Relations & Information Group, in a bid to reach 100% of the Company staff this year.

The Head of Ahmadi Hospital’s Medical Board, Dr. Adel Al-Abbasi, reiterated that the campaign was organized in response to the directives of KOC Higher Management and that it was aimed at discovering the elements that cause sickness at early stages.

He maintained that the early discovery of chronic diseases would help diminish their impact in the future and that the campaign was aimed at unveiling such causes while setting up programs to limit their hazards.

Dr. Al-Abbasi stressed the need to perform periodic checkups on all KOC staff this year, and at the same time, affirmed that the Hospital’s Preventive and Industrial Medical Care Unit were ready to accomplish their missions.

Under the sponsorship of Baker Hughes, the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) – Kuwait Chapter held its sixth meeting where a presentation was made on a subject titled: “Geomechanics: An effective multi-disciplinary tool for natural integration of disciplines in upstream petroleum decisions.”

The presentation was delivered by Geomechanics Team Leader (Middle East), Baker Hughes – GMI Satya Perumalla, who explained that Geomechanics is known to the industry as a separate science to address issues from exploration, drilling, completion and production.

Perumalla went on to state that while geomechanics addresses exploratory well risk, wellbore stability, completion optimization and production enhancement in depleted fields, it is a fact that a geomechanical model integrates data of diverse origin to estimate the mechanical response of formation to in-situ stresses.

The presentation was well-received by the petrophysicists and engineers in attendance.

Following his presentation, SPWLA President (Kuwait Chapter) Salem Al-Sabea presented Perumalla with a plaque in recognition of his efforts.

The Planning & Support Team of the Administrative & Financial Affairs Directorate recently held a Certificate Awarding Ceremony to honor four employees from the Training & Career Development Group for their successful completion of ISO 9001:2008 Operation Training.

In a speech he delivered during the Certificate Awarding Ceremony, P&S (A&F) TL Yousef Al-Rekaibi expressed appreciation for the staff’s dedication to learning and adding value to KOC in improving quality services. He also encouraged them to pursue internationally-recognized Lead Auditor certification.

The four honored staff included Wessam Al-Qahtani, Hamad Al-Adsani, Areej Al-Ansari and Mohammed Al-Drees.
