A drive around the fateh sagar lake is definitely a must do spend time here and see howpeaceful it is.

Take time to explore the bylanes of Udaipur as it as so many lovely restaurants.

The monsoon palace is a must do take a jeep up as it is quite a walk. The view from the top isbreathtaking and out of this world.

If you have time visit the botanical gardens which is right next to the monsoon palace.

Whenever you have free time which will be very less visit Lake Pichola. A must do is a sunsetcruise on the lake.

Get your cameras ready and visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari the garden with a lot of foundations. A verypretty and peaceful place.

One evening visit Bagore-ki-Haveli and watch the cultural show it is beautiful and theperformers are very talented. There is a fee for the camera here please buy it as it is totallyworth it.

A bit away is Shilpgram where different villages are show. Very nearly done and is another mustsee.

There is so much more to explore and can't wait to go and explore it." - Shane lobo , , 4 weeksago

Beautiful place that can be reached through a beautiful drive"It was not long when we started to plan a trip which could satisfy our driving cum travel bugwhen we almost got starstruck with this beautiful city of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Famously known ascity of Lakes, this place has much more charm than anyone can think of. Beautiful palaces,Lakes, battlefields, temples and amicable people to say a few.

We planned to leave Delhi on 18th Feb. The unanimous decision was to start at night aftercoming from office. The idea was to use the day and beat the traffic at night. So we startedaround 830pm from our residences in a VW Polo. My friend Ne, I and our best halves. As Nestarted to drive towards Gurgaon we, decided (it was obvious though) to have a couple of pints, and strictly no more so the stress from the hectic office day could be worn off. We had them onthe way to Neemrana and stopped for dinner before Neemrana.

It was not cold, though the wind was more than comforting when we got down from the Car. Thedhaba where we stopped was named Shiva. There are so many Shiva dhabas around, thoughthe one we chose proved to be a good one as it served us with steaming hot Dal makhni andbutter naans. The meal was delicious and did not burn a hole in the pocket ;)

One thing I would like to add here is the Delhi - Udaipur Highway is full of tolls. Though paying atthese tolls looks worth it as the road is well laid to perfection. At least 10 tolls are there and youmay need to shell out approx Rs 1000 one way. Delhi-Jaipur lacks it and I don't feel it should bea toll road at all. It seems as if they are charging money from the people to lay the road on thetarmac. Sic. Though If you are Reading this blog post Dec'16 you may find Delhi - Jaipur road abit improved.

Bellies filled, we decided that we will only stop after Jaipur so that we could make up for thetraffic and stopover as it was going to be 10hr long journey. I started pushing the paddle just torealize that the traffic on NH8 was as usual heavy at night. I buckled up for some serious nightdriving among trucks and trailers and managed to cruise roughly around 70-80 Kmph.

We had decided to follow Jaipur Bypass and go via -> NH76 to escape the traffic.

TIP - A road from Chandwaji turns left on Ajmer bye-pass surprisingly with no signboardshowing direction for Ajmer instead, a board of Mahindra World City is Visibly fixed showingdirection towards the left and a small portion on the right shows straight for Jaipur 45 km, somake sure to turn towards Mahindra World City. If you miss this left, you will still be on thecorrect course, a bit slower NH8 though.

The Bypass and the entire stretch of NH76 was smooth like butter. I improved from 70Kmph to100-110 kmph. It sounds exaggerating but once you hit this piece of highway, your speedo willnot let you down, quite literally.

The road was deserted except a few trucks. Please be aware while overtaking them. I cameacross a Volvo which was speeding faster than everybody, and was making sudden eradicatemanoeuvres. Be careful. We stopped for a tea break around 2 AM before Bhilwara. We alreadyhad ready-made tea which we were carrying in a hot pot so that we were not dependent upondhabas in the middle of the night. We sipped our tea and felt the breeze of Rajasthan on ourcheeks. It felt refreshing. After the pit stop I again started to chase our dream destination. 45minutes into the drive and I noticed all my co passengers were easing off on the shoulders ofSleepy (the queen of dreams). I thought that it's a good time to indulge in some of my favouritesongs and drive a little faster as no one was there to say, "bye 120 pe kaha jar aha hai". I alsowanted Ne to be rested because I knew I will run out of energy around dawn and he would haveto take control of the wheel. We reached Bhilwara by 3AM and were cruising towardsChittorgarh and some of my mates started to wake up. This route is so deserted and straightyou sometimes feel bored. No lefts and rights, just a straight road. 6. 15 in the morning when weall realized that the sun was coming up. We were overwhelmed by the rising Sun and capturedsome moments. I am uploading the video just to give a glimpse. By this time I was in the backseat and Ne was cruising through. We stopped at a dhaba just short of Udaipur for our morningcalls around 7. 30AM and entered Udaipur around 8. 30. We realized that our VW needs arefuel after all the driving and we did. I will write about the city and other exciting things aboutthe lake city in my next blog." - Nishant Abhinav, Delhi, Mar 2, 2017

Magnificent natural wonder is surrounded by hills"I had been to Udaipur by road in the month of December 2016. Udaipur is a must-visitattraction in the tourist circuit of Rajasthan. The must-visit attractions around Udaipur are thePichola Lake, Kumbhalgarh Fort and the City Palace. Lake Pichola was established in 1362 AD.It was widened by Rana Udai Singh II in the 16th century. This magnificent natural wonder issurrounded by hills, palaces and bathing ghats. The Kumbhalgarh Fort was constructed in the15th century by Maharana Kumbha. Incidentally, this is the birthplace of Maharana Pratap. Thisis the highest and strongest fort in Rajasthan. The fort stands at an elevation of 1180 meters. The fort is supported by the 13 aravalli peaks. The wall surrounding the fort extends to 15kilometers. The Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second longest wall in the world after the Great Wall ofChina. The City Palace is located on the banks of Pichola Lake and has a blend of medieval, european and chinese styles of Architecture. The Palace was built by Maharana Udai MirzaSingh in the year 1559. The City Palace houses 11 magnificent palaces. It has within its area acombination of Courtyards, hanging gardens and terraces and pavilions." - Pritvi Kanchi,Bangalore, Jan 8, 2017

Feel The Royalty at Udaipur"I must admit that my trip to Udaipur has been one of the most cherished. I can't help it but I gethell bent on making people go there if they haven't and trust me once back from there, they feel& do the same.

Maybe my love for it is because of the forts and palaces, the rich heritage and so many thingsto see and explore. All in all a grand wholesome package.

Four full days are good enough to see most of the places and some famous places around it.So, here is what all you can do in this trip:

1. Forts - Chittorgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort

2. Palaces - City Palace, Jag Mandir Palace

3. The Royal Vintage Car Collection Display

4. Temples/Mandir - Jagdish (Vishnu) Mandir, Eklingji, Ranakpur Temple, Saas Bahu Mandir

5. Lakes - Pichola, Fateh Sagar

6. Maharana Pratap Memorial, Ropeway to the highest point of Udaipur, Saheliyon ki Baari

7. Walk down the lanes of the city to enjoy their culture, food and art.

Quite an interesting listing! If you have not been there you know where to head next." -Traveler Inme, Delhi, Oct 5, 2016

Fateh Sagar Lake nice Place for Enjoy"Sagar Lake is the second artificial lake of Udaipur, the first being Jaisamand lake. Located inthe north of Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake lies just besides the entrance to Moti Magri Hill.Built in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, Fateh Sagar Lake got its name from Maharana FatehSingh, who later made additions to it. Talking about the statistics of Fateh Sagar, the lakeextends to the length of 2. 4 km, 1. 6 km. In width and deep to the extent of 11. 5 meter. Duringthe monsoons, the lake covers the total area of around 1 sq km. Â Fateh Sagar Lake is Welland with three intake channels and an overflow channel that is usuallybrought into play in the rainy season. Fateh Sagar Lake is embellished by three small islands, which can be reached by taking a boat ride in the lake. The largest island of the lake isdeveloped into a park by the name of Nehru Park. The garden comprises a bashed restaurantand a small zoo for children. This island park is the favorite picnic spot of Udaipur dwellers. Â The second island is converted into a public park with brilliant water-jet fountains by theGovernment of Rajasthan. The third island addresses Udaipur Solar Observatory, which is thebest solar observing site in Asia. Fateh Sagar Lake is quiet place where people usually comefor relaxation and to lighten up amidst the serene waters of the lake. From the bottom of MotiMagri Hill, you can hire pedal boats or motor boats as per your convenience to enjoy a boat ridein the lake. Â This reshaped lake is encircled by hills, with the exception of its eastern side, where a straightstone dam is to be found. You can enjoy this lake taking its circumference while driving throughMoti Magri Road, Fateh Sagar Drive and Rani Road. This twisting route would present stunningviews of the lake as well as the encompassing Aravalli Hills. Fateh Sagar Lake is a nice place toexplore and tourists certainly come to enjoy the tranquil beauty of this lake. You can enjoy herebut with safety because this Lake are artificial but due to the climate there may be excesseswater in the lake and motorboats may be turn wrong and there are no safety guards available."- Vijay Sharma, , Aug 13, 2016

Udaipur weatherBest Season / Best Time to Visit Udaipur
