By Bob Evans Sports Editor COLUMBUS - Two outstanding Carrollton High School track ca- reers came to an end last weekend at the annual OHSAA State Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. Seniors April Sisk and Kelsey Cogan represented Carrollton in two events each. In her final day of competition, Sisk earned All-Ohio honors by placing sixth in the shot put. Her second throw of 40’6.25” in the pre- liminaries earned her a spot on the podium. “It was a lot of fun and I did much better than yesterday (Fri- day),” Sisk said. “I didn’t do well and I wanted to do better today.” Sisk will attend West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon on a track scholarship. The discus had been Sisk’s best event for most of the season, but Friday it wasn’t as she threw just 114’ 8” and didn’t qualify for the fi- nals. She leaves Carrollton as the school record holder in the discus. For Cogan, it was a disappointing two days. On Saturday, she ran in the 3,200-meter run where she placed 16th with a time of 12:07,97. “It was not a good race. If I want to run in college I am going to have to do better than that,” she said. Cogan will run cross country and indoor and outdoor track for Bowl- ing Green University beginning this fall. Cogan was also a member of the 3,200-meter relay team of sopho- mores Naomi Young, Taylar Bennett and Lindsay Schandel that placed 15th with a time of 10:16.45. Akron St. Vincent, St. Mary won the girls team championship for the second straight year with 55 points and Columbus Eastmoor Academy was second with 46 points. In the boys portion, Carrollton sophomore hurdler Lynk Tranter ran in the 110 high hurdles. Tranter ran a 15.66 in the pre- liminaries and failed to make it into Saturday’s finals. Tranter was disappointed, but knows what it will take to get back next year. “I got off to a bad start,” he said, “This was a good experience. I am going to work harder so I can get back here next year.” Dayton Dunbar won the team title with 49 points and Akron St. Vincent, St. Mary followed in a close second with 46 points. Crum, a Kent State University football recruit, ran in four events at the state’s top track and field meet and earned two medals for his efforts. “It’s been long,” Crum said, “But worth it. “ Crum finished in eighth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20 and was a member of the 400-meter relay team of junior Jacob Riley, senior Adam Harper and junior Corey Schaffner that placed sixth with a time of 43.36. Crum finished 10th in the 100- meter dash with a time of 11.20 and tied for 14th in the long jump with a jump of 20’ 0.25” The 3,200-meter relay team of junior Lucas Nezbeth, senior Seth Goshorn, junior Quade Zeedrich and senior Adam Anderson ran a 8:26.57 to place 13th. The 1,600-meter relay team of Harper, Goshorn, Zeedrich and An- derson finished in 16th place with a time of 3:45.70. Dayton Dunbar won the team title with 49 points and Akron St. Vin- cent, St. Mary was a close second with 46 points. The Cardinals’ senior won the Division II state championship in the long jump last Friday and fol- lowed that performance by earning All-Ohio with a fifth place finish in the 110 high hurdles on Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. “This has been an amazing weekend,” said Milhoan, “I won the long jump yesterday, finished fifth today and I graduate tomorrow. What more could you ask for?” Milhoan was just hoping to get a medal. He never thought about gold. Milhoan went out and jumped 22’ 11.5” to earn the top spot on the podium. “I thought I could make the top 10 coming out of the regional,” said Milhoan, who will be attending Mount Union University in the fall. “I was just hoping to get to the fi- nals and a place on the podium. I didn’t think I would win.” Milhoan credited a rain delay fol- lowing the preliminaries on Friday for helping him. “I think I may have over warmed up,” he said. “It helped me get a lit- tle rest.” On Saturday in the hurdles, he ran a 14.79 to place fifth. “I am happy with that,” he said. “It has been some weekend.” To get to the finals, he had to qualify on Friday where he ran a 14.993. The top nine qualifiers made the finals and the top eight earned All- Ohio and a place on the podium. Also representing the Cardinals was junior Ben Lehotay in the 3,200-meter run. Lehotay ran a time of 10.08 to place 14th. The Lady Cardinals were not to be outdone at the state meet. Sen- ior Briana Schubert jumped her way to a spot on the podium and All-Ohio honors by placing sixth in the long jump at 16’ 7”. Tranter was disappointed, butknows what it will take to get backnext year.

COLUMBUS - It was a busytwo days for Minerva senior KyleCrum.

Crum, a Kent State Universityfootball recruit, ran in four eventsat the state’s top track and fieldmeet and earned two medals forhis efforts.

“It’s been long,” Crum said,“But worth it. “

Crum finished in eighth placein the 200-meter dash with atime of 22.20 and was a memberof the 400-meter relay team ofjunior Jacob Riley, senior AdamHarper and junior CoreySchaffner that placed sixth witha time of 43.36.

Sisk places sixth at state meet in shot

COLUMBUS - For Andrew Mil-hoan of Sandy Valley it was just anamazing weekend.

The Cardinals’ senior won the

Division II state championship inthe long jump last Friday and fol-lowed that performance by earningAll-Ohio with a fifth place finish inthe 110 high hurdles on Saturdayat Jesse Owens Memorial Stadiumin Columbus.

“This has been an amazingweekend,” said Milhoan, “I won thelong jump yesterday, finished fifthtoday and I graduate tomorrow.What more could you ask for?”

Milhoan was just hoping to get amedal. He never thought aboutgold.

Milhoan went out andjumped 22’ 11.5” to earn the topspot on the podium.

“I thought I could make the top10 coming out of the regional,” saidMilhoan, who will be attendingMount Union University in the fall.“I was just hoping to get to the fi-nals and a place on the podium. Ididn’t think I would win.”

Milhoan credited a rain delay fol-lowing the preliminaries on Fridayfor helping him.
