MEMORANDUM TO PRINCIPALS DN/15/00058 English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) Annual Survey 2015 The EALD Annual Survey is being conducted between 9 June and 24 July 2015. The EALD Annual Survey is used to collect data on the number of EALD students enrolled in each school and their phase of English language proficiency assessed as Beginning, Emerging, Developing or Consolidating against the EALD Learning Progression. Data from the survey is used to determine schools’ relative need for EALD support and the English Language Proficiency equity loading allocated to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). Survey data is collected electronically by harvesting information from the school Enrolment Registration Number (ERN) system. It is important that schools check and update data for their EALD students in ERN, including where relevant, their visa sub-class, country of birth, language spoken at home, date of arrival and date of first enrolment as well as EALD Learning Progression phase. As the allocation of each school’s English Language Proficiency loading is directly related to data collected in this survey, accurate reporting of EALD student data is vital. Schools are required to confirm the accuracy of this data via the EALD Annual Survey site. Additional data relating to the delivery of EALD support within the school will also be collected through the survey. The site will be open for data review and amendment from 9 - 26 June. The site will re-open for final sign-off by principals from 1 - 24 July. MEMORANDUM TO PRINCIPALS DN/15/00058

English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) Annual Survey 2015

The EALD Annual Survey is being conducted between 9 June and 24 July 2015.

The survey must be completed and signed off by close of business on 24 July 2015.

The EALD Annual Survey can be accessed from the Data Collections website at http://detreporting.det.nsw.edu.au/DataCollection. Instructions for completing the survey are available on this site.

Enquiries regarding access to the website should be directed to the IT Help Services on 1800 338 483. Enquiries regarding the survey should be directed to the EALD Program Support Advisor on 9244 5636 or the EALD New Arrivals Program Advisor on 9244 5349.
