BHMS wants to let everyone know that our awesome Engineering team brought home TWO special awards during the virtual Future City competition January 30th!

This year was especially difficult since they had to create a model of a city from home. However, the students did not flinch at the challenge; they smartly decided to combine this year's lunar city theme with their love for Among Us, which ended up being a big attraction for the judges. So, after a trip to everyone's house to drop off supplies like hot glue guns, clay, foam board, paint and brushes, along with a winter break Twitch stream on model-making that my students actually came to watch live (which is weird in its own right), they were able to create several amazing models! I was blown away by the ingenuity they demonstrated and their attention to detail in turning recycled household materials into miniature works of art.

The links below include an essay about our city by our talented writers (Khandakar and Thomas), and a slideshow that highlights each of the models.

Rebecca Ruff

Morgan Fuller

Staff of the MonthMrs. Fuller started at Beverly Hills in 2007 as a Special Education Teacher. She has also served as the Department Chair for Special Education and is currently serving as an Interim Assistant Principal. Last year, 2019-20, Mrs. Fuller served as the Interim Assistant Principal to the 6th grade class (current 7th grade class).

Mrs. Fuller is a graduate of Temple University. She holds a Master’s in Education and in addition to an Administrative certification, she is certified in Math, English, Elementary Education, and Special Education.

Mrs. Fuller is married and has 2 young daughters that keep her very busy. In her off time, Mrs. Fuller enjoys spending time with her family, playing board games, learning new recipes to cook, and spending time at the beach during the summer.

Mrs. Fuller is always thinking about ways to help support the students at Beverly Hills in being the best they can be.

My name is Rebecca Ruff. I am a Social Worker here at Beverly Hills. This is my 7th year working with the Upper Darby School District. I started at the High School and then moved over to Beverly Hills for the last 5 years. This year I am working primarily with the 7th and 8th grade students, families and staff.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, going for short hikes in the woods and trying new restaurants with friends (although this is on hold for now). Throughout the pandemic, I have loved volunteering with the Upper Darby Outreach Cooperation offering hot meals to the community every week. It has been wonderful working alongside many inspiring and wonderful community members. When we get to the other side of this pandemic, I am looking forward to traveling again!

Jennifer Holstien

Staff of the MonthMy name is Jennifer Holstein and I am the 8th grade assistant principal at Beverly Hills Middle School. This is my first year working at Beverly Hills Middle School, but it is my nineteenth year in the district. I am proud to work with such an amazing staff and wonderful students and families. I previously worked at Stonehurst Hills Elementary and Drexel Hill Middle School.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love to travel, hang out at the pool or on a beach, watch a good movie or tv show, and cook. Every summer I spend at least one week at the beach.

My name is Laurie Gallagher and I am one of the Sixth Grade Language ArtsTeachers at Beverly Hills Middle School. Sixth grade is such an amazing year ofacademic, social, and emotional growth. My desire to become an educatorstemmed from my Second Grade Teacher at Ardmore Avenue Elementary. Herpassion and dedication to her students was a true inspiration. I often reflect backon those days in her classroom, and the true commitment she made every day toher students and the school community, while emulating her same passion andenthusiasm for teaching and learning.

After graduating from West Chester University in 1994, I was a substitute teacherfor various school districts in Delaware and Chester Counties. I always enjoyedbeing a guest teacher in the Upper Darby School District because of its robustdiversity of student population. I also valued its strong sense of community ofdedicated teachers and staff. Beverly Hills became my second home in 2001. Iam forever grateful to the wonderful students and devoted colleagues that I havethe pleasure to interact with each and every day.
