willmarthesurfaceofthepieces.) Metalrulertomakeastraightcutorscore. Toothpicksforreachingintotinycornersandspreadingdropsofglue. Whiteglueandgluestick. Cuttingsurface(recommended:acuttingmat). Drypen(noink)orbluntknifeforscoring.

Steps To Follow To Assemble Your Model1. Read the assembly instructions carefullyandassembleinorderasshownonthediagrampages.Studyeachofthestepsforeachsectionandfindthedifferentpiecesofthemodelsection.Somepiecesmaybefoundonsheetsthatincludepiecesfromothersections.

2. Cut out all pieces needed to assemble one section,butatthistimedontcutalongthelines.Thedifferentpiecesarenumbered.

3. Work on one piece at a time: Scorealongthedottedlines. Cutalongthesolidlines. Foldalongthedottedlines,butdontaddgluetoanypiecesyet.

VERY IMPORTANT: Tryoutthepiecestobegluedbeforeapplyingtheglue.Thiswillhelpyouunderstandhowthepiecesfittogether,andyouwillbeabletotakenoteofanyadjustmentsthatmightbeneeded.Thenapplyasmallamountofglueonthetabindicatedbyablackdot.

Usually,apieceforacardstockmodeliscutoutintwostages.First,thepieceisseparatedfromtherestofthepiecesbycuttingroughlyarounditwithscissors.

Dontcutalongthelinesatthisstep.Oncethepieceisseparated,youcanworkonitwithoutdamagingotherpieces.Itsbesttodo

thescoringandfoldingbeforeproceedingtothefinecutting.Withsmallpiecesandnarrowtabs,itseasiertofoldthemneatlywhilethereisstillwastepaper

surroundingthepiece.

Scoring

Mountain fold

Valley fold

Scorethefoldlinestomakeacrispstraightfold.Itsespeciallyimportantforthesmallestpiecestobescoredbeforefolding.Toscore,placeametalruleralongthefoldline,andthenpresswithadullpoint(adrypenordullknife)alongthefoldlinetocompressthepaper.Thiswillhelptoachieveacrispfold.

Therearetwokindsoffolds:

Mostpiecesrequireamountain fold,thoughafewuseavalley fold.Valleyfoldswillbeindicatedonthemodelpiecesandintheinstructionmanualwiththevalleyfoldsymbol.

Whenassemblingawallwithawindoworadoor,beforegluingittogetheryouneedtofirstgluethedoororwindowframeintoplace.

Preparethewallandframebyscoringandcutting.Doapre-foldtopreparethepiece,thengluetheframetoonesideofthewall.

Thenfoldovertheotherpieceofthewallandglueittotheframeaswell.Afterward,gluetheothertabsintoposition.

Donttrytoglueeverythingatthesametime,orthegluemightdrybeforeyouhavefinishedassembling.

Assembling the terrain tilesTherearemanydifferentways.Itsuptoyoutoexperimentandfindwhatyouprefer.

Cutouteachfloortileindividuallyandglueittoapiece

ofcardboard,foamcore,ordisplay

boardofthesamesize.

Thenyoucansimplyattachthemtogetherwithapieceoftapeontheback.Thatway,ifinthefutureyouwishtochangetheorderofyourtiles,itwillbeeasytoseparateandrearrangethem.

Oryoucangluethemalltogether. Anotheroptionistoprepareeachpiece

individually,thenprepareaframewithcardboard

orfoamcorethatyoucansetyourfloortileswithinwithouttheneedtoglueortapethemtogether.Thismakesiteasiertorearrangethetilesas

desired.

Assembling door and window frames


Pieces with extra border colorSomepieceshaveextracoloraroundthem;armsforexample.Foldthesepiecesinhalfandgluebeforecutting,sothatthepiecewillhavetextureonbothsides.Simplyfoldalongthedottedlineandapplysomeglue,preferablyusingagluestick.

Oncetheglueonthepiecehasdried,cutitout.Youdonthavetocutrightontheline,itsfinetoleaveamillimeterortwoaroundit.

AND ALWAYS TRY OUT BEFORE GLUING,asthepieceofcardboard(orothermaterial)mayneedsmalladjustmentsbeforebeinggluedintoplace.

Cutoutthedesiredshapeandinsertitinsidethebaseorwall.

Anothertechniqueistouseapieceofcardboard,foamboard,orStyrofoamthatcorrespondtothethicknessofthepart.

Adding extra strength to walls and basesAttheendofthemodelpages,youwillfindapagewithsmallpiecesinwhite;thesearetoaddextrastrengthtowallsandbases.(Thepiecesarenumberedtoindicatethecorespondingwallsorbaseparts.)

Foldthemintotriangles.Thengluetheminsidethebasesorthewalls.

Caution Be careful when using scissors or a paper cutting knife. Glue, scissors, and other tools may be dangerous, so be sure to keep them out of the reach of young children.

Andremember,there is no hurry.
