Sunday / Wednesday Join us for class & invite a friend!
Cindy and I are grateful for your prayers for us as we visited our brethren in Mexico City on August 25-30. Both flights included a layover in Houston. Would you have imagined that flying between Houston and Mexico City takes less than two hours? This was my third visit to Mexico City, and as in the past, I found the Rochas, who live in a large house called "La Casa Rosa," to be wonderful hosts. We had a chance to spend time with many of the members of the Iglesia de Cristo Metropolitana, and we were encouraged by what we saw. I led a four hour seminar, translated by Lalo Rocha, on Saturday hosted by the Rochas in their home for around twenty members of the congregation. On Sunday I was given an opportunity to preach at the worship assembly. Translating for me was Alejandro Sosa, who I first met when he was an intern last summer with the Cherry Lane congregation here in Midland. Then on Monday evening I led a small group study, again at La Casa Rosa, that was attended by Christians from the Metropolitana congregation, but which also included Juan and Karla, friends of the Rochas who have been studying the Bible with Lalo and Jamie.
Last Wednesday evening was the final time for our summer experiment with intergenerational Bible training, and so we will once again begin meeting for midweek study in the main building with a couple of adult classes and classes for children. The Wednesday morning ladies Bible study, led by Nita Holland, will resume a study of the Book of Romans. On Wednesday evenings Regina Jackson will lead a topical study for ladies and I will resume a study based on an annual Bible reading plan. Here are the readings that we will cover in this week: Numbers 15-17; Psalms 94-95; Son of Solomon 1-6; Isaiah 1-8; Galatians 1-6.
