Westminster abbeyOne of the most attractive constructions is Westminster Abbey. It attracts visitors not only with its architectural glory but also with its rich history and cultural importance. Westminster Abbey is the place where many outstanding Englishmen are buried, among them well-known poets, writers, scientists, statesmen, painters and many others. Many people who visit the Abbey want to commemorate such great men as William Shakespeare, Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, Robert Burns, Bernard Show, Lord Byron, Walter Scott, Geoffrey Chaucer, and many others. Westminster Abbey is was founded by King Edward in 1065.

Tower of London

• The Tower of London is one of the most imposing and popular of London's historical sites. It comprises not one, but 20 towers. The oldest of which, the White Tower, dates back to the lith century and the time of William the Conqueror. Nowadays a lot of tourists visit the Tower of London, because of the Tower's evil reputation as a prison. The Tower is famous as home of the Crown Jewels. Today they can be viewed in their new jewel house. They include the Crown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother which contains the celebrated Indian diamond.

THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT CAN BE VISITED BY THE PUBLIC. THE ENTRANCE IS THROUGH THE DOOR LOCATED AT THE FOOT OF VICTORIA TOWER AND NEXT TO THE ROYAL ARCH. VISITORS START AT THE ROYAL GALLERY AND THEN GO TO THE HOUSE OF LORDS. HERE THERE IS THE HISTORICAL WOOLSACK, WHERE THE LORD CHANCELLOR TAKES HIS PLACE TO PRESIDE OVER THE SITTINGS. FROM HERE, VISITORS PROCEED TOWARDS THE CENTRAL CORRIDOR, CROSSING THE ANTECHAMBER OF THE LORDS. THE HISTORICAL FRESCOS THAT DECORATE THE WALLS OF THE CENTRAL CORRIDOR ARE VERY INTERESTING. PASSING FROM HERE VISITORS ARRIVE AT THE ANTECHAMBER OF THE COMMONS AND THEN CONTINUE TO THE ACTUAL COMMONS ITSELF.

THIS IS ONE OF THE LARGEST MUSEUMS IN THE WORLD THAT HOLDS WORKS OF ART, ANCIENT GREECE, MESOPOTAMIA, ANCIENT ROME, ANCIENT EGYPT, THE AMAZING PRODUCTS OF EUROPEAN AND ASIAN ARTISTS OF THE MIDDLE AGES, THE MEETING OF COINS AND MEDALS, PRINTS, DRAWINGS, ETHNOGRAPHIC COLLECTIONS. ALL MUSEUM COLLECTIONS LOCATED IN 94 GALLERIES TOTALING MORE THAN FOUR KILOMETERS.

The British Museum

Buckingham PalaceBuckingham Palace - a small city - with the presence of its police department , two post offices , hospitals , bars, two sports clubs , a cinema and a swimming pool . In the palace has 600 rooms and close about the third mile red carpets . Currently, state rooms are constantly used by Queen and members of the royal family to receive and entertain guests on the occasion of various special events , ceremonies and official events . The gallery hosts exhibitions Queen of the royal collection : a huge art gallery with works by Rembrandt, Rubens and others, as well as the French Sevres porcelain , French and English furniture . Until recently, the palace was not available to the general public , but in the summer of 1993 the museum doors were first opened to the public. The tour ends with a walk along the south side of the garden , offering stunning views of the west facade of the Palace and the famous lake . Just open to the public Royal stables , horses with blankets , with magnificent state coach that painted by the Italian artist Cipriani , there are more modern carriages and cars . Very interesting event is the daily " changing of the guard ." Within half an hour the guard detachment in bright red uniforms and bearskin hats head followed from Wellington Barracks to Buckingham Palace for the adoption of the keys to the old guard.

The London Eye

London Eye height of 135 meters - the project architects David Marks and Julia Barfield , who won the design contest buildings dedicated to the third millennium . Construction wheel lasted 6 years and ended exactly 31 December 1999 . The London Eye , similar to a large bicycle wheel supported by spokes were of segments that were transported on barges on the Thames and was collected in the " lying " on the Special River platforms. The assembled wheel raised into a vertical position using a specially designed system at a speed of 2 degrees per hour. The total weight of the wheels was 1,700 tons .
