County, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Byrd, SrHe was a member of Thankful Baptist Church where he sang

in the choir and was a member of the Deacon Board. He attendedthe public schools of Candler County.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Debbie Sue Byrd; two sons,Mr. Billie Earl Byrd of Alexandria, Virginia and Mr. Willie E. Byrdof Rocky Mount, North Carolina; one brother, Mr. Gordy Byrd ofHomestead, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Harriet Alvin of Savannah.Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Virginia M. Byrd ofAlexandria, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Levada Byrd Joinerof Metter, Georgia and Mrs. Viola Byrd of Philadelphia,Pennsylvania; two devoted nieces, Mrs. Genie Johnson ofSavannah, Georgia and Mrs. Eula Hodges of Metter, Georgia; onedevoted nephew, Mr. Charlie Johnson of Savannah, Georgia; fourgrandchildren and a host of other nephews, nieces, relatives andfriends.
