Professional Achievements R&D Experiance

1. I have Worked on as many as 7 major Sonar Projects for India Navy

towards indigenization of Sonar system development for ships, submarines and Helicopters. The work included design, implementation and testing. I have also participated in the integration, testing and commissioning of Sonar systems on Ships, Submarines and Helicopters for Indian Navy. I have spent a long time in developing classification techniques of underwater contacts, by applying Soft Computing techniques. I have developed and implemented Signal Processing algorithms on Sonar systems.

2. I led a team in developing algorithms for Signal Information Processing and Machine Learning. In this exploratory project, many new ideas were tried out and introduced for successful implementation in NPOL Sonar systems subsequently. They include High Resolution Array Processing, Target Tracking, Independent component analysis, Higher order spectral techniques and model based signal processing.

3. I led a multi Lab project called Integrated Coastal Surveillance System, where may responsibility was to integrate and demonstrate data fusion from a variety of sensors like Radar, Sonar , Automatic identification system and communication intercept systems. I functioned as Principal Project Director, leading a team of seven Project Directors from seven DRDO labs. As I left NPOL on 31 OCT, 2013 on superannuation, I could ensure nearly 70-80% of project integration work completed.

4. I was the Chairman of the HRD Council for more than 5 years in NPOL, when I could stream line the training policy for Scientists of NPOL, including short term training, deputation for Post graduate studies and PhD at various universities/IITs/ I.S.Sc in India.

5. I was also the member of the Naval Research board panel on (i) Computing and (ii) Sonar Signal Behaviour, until 31 OCT, 2013. The panel was responsible for awarding development projects to Academic Institutions and monitoring the progress.

6. Served as second in command at NPOL during 2010 to 2013, when I used to offer administrative and technical support to Director, NPOL , including officiating as Director, when necessary. The administrative assignments included budget monitoring, answering audit observations and others related to day to day administration of the lab. The technical responsibilities included preparation of project dossiers and participation in project reviews

7. During 2012-2013, I was also a member of the Board of Directors, Keltron Trivandrum

Academic Experiance

1. Subsequent to my retirement from DRDO, I have joined the Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology, Kakanad, Kochi as the Professor in the department of Electrical engineering on 01 DEC, 2013.I took over as

the Principal of the College on 01 April, 2014. As the Principal, I could stream line the UG and the PG programme offered at the Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology. I also designed a special facilitation package to help the PhD staff registrants of RSET, which provides them a lightly loaded assignment for one semester. The package has been extensive used by many of my colleagues and as many as five are now in the process of submitting their synopsis. Various steps have been initiated and piloted by me to enhance the research and consultancy of the contributions of the faculty members.
