Worked three years in Portugal, Italy, France, Spain, England, West Germany and Holland in

connection with the Ph.D thesis, which was submitted, to Jawaharlal Nehru University in

1978. Continued further research in the European Archives with (Medieval History)

financial assistance from ICHR as well as International Service of the Gulbenkian

Foundation after obtaining doctorate.

Worked as Lecturer and Reader in the UGC Special Assistance Programme in the Department of

History, M.S. University of Baroda up to 1985.

From September 1985 worked as Professor in History in the Central University of Hyderabad.

Assumed charge as the Head of the Department of History in Hyderabad University in

February 1986 and joined Pondicherry University as the first Professor and Head of the

Department of History, in December 1987 and retired on superannuation on 30.06.2001 and

reemployed from 01 July 2001 in the Pondicherry University till 30 June 2003..
