It is 70% water and jelly like substance. It contains fats, protein, carbohydrates. Cell wall is only found in plants. They are fully permaeble and is made of cellu lose. They protect the cell from damage and give the cell a fixed shape. Cell surface membrance is partially permaeble. It encloses the cytoplasm and con trols substances entering or leaving the cell. Nucleus controls all cell activity, including cell growth and cell repair. It is  essential for cell divisiom, cells like RBC which don't have nucleuses have sho rt lifespans. It contains a denser protoplasm containing nucleoplasm, chromatin,  nucleolus,nuclear envelope. Cytoplasm contains enzymes and organelles, it is where most cell activity occur at. Vacuoles contain cell sap (water and disslved minerals) Animal: Small and numerous Plant: Large central vacuole enclosed by tonoplast Mitochondria releases energy during food oxidation through aerobic respiration Ribosomes produces proteins, free ribosome make protein for use in the cell, ribosome attached to RER is for use outside the cell RER has a rough surface due to the ribosome attached to the surface. It transpor t proteins to the Golgi body from the ribosome for secretion after modification Golgi body stores and modifies substance made by the ER. It packages substance i nto vesicles for secretion out of tje cell. vesicles can be seen fusing with the  golgi body and pinching off the other side SER has a smooth surface due to no ribosomes attached. It produces fat and stero id (sex hormone). It also detoxifies substances by converting harmful subs into harmless substances Chloroplast is only found in plants, they trap light energy for use in photosynt hesis Chromatin is a structure of long thread like substances. It is made up of DNA, a nd contains heridatary information for carrying out chemical reactions. Xylem vessels are long hollow tube for conducting WATER and mineral salts.
