Comments from Past Participants“The quality of the continuing educa-tion, the professionalism, the camara-derie, the spirit, the energy, the quality of the speakers—in a great setting—with so many great people from around the world is why I attend the Academy of LDS Dentists conference.”

“The best aspects of this conference are the fellowshipping, the opportunity to hear from top dental professionals at a very affordable price, the chance to jump on service efforts, network with others, and the fireside and banquet!”

“I enjoy the fellowship of like-minded colleagues, the unique format, the general positive environment that I have felt at no other meeting, and the spirit of this conference—it’s different than other meetings I attend. I attend my local ADA meetings and feel out of place. I do not feel out of place here.”

“I obtain 14 CE credits of exceptional education on a broad spectrum of dental topics, as well as specific dental hygiene information from the hygienist breakout session. I also benefit from the clinical research updates from Gordon and Rella Christensen.”

www. Which File, Which Irrigation, Which Obturation Do I Use? (afternoon)Endodontics requires a high level of technical skills and biological understanding. Dr. Olmsted will share his additional endo tips for local anesthetics, access, and isolation; new rotary and reciproca-tion instrumentation; negative apical pressure irrigation; and continuous wave obturation. At the conclusion of this course, the participants will be able to:

1. Outline the progression of local anesthetics, access, and isolation.2. List the steps of new rotary/reciprocation instrumentation.3. Demonstrate the different techniques of negative apical pressure biochemical irrigation.4. Describe the different delivery procedures for continuous wave obturation.

Bioactive Cements: A New Class of Dental Materials (morning)The ability to formulate calcium-containing cements into materials with sufficient strength and durability has created the opportunity to utilize this class of highly biocompatible and “smart” or bioactive materials in endodontics and restorative dentistry. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the basic composition, physical and strength properties, and biocompatibility of this emerging class of materials.

Bioactive Cements: An Evidence-Based Review (afternoon)Expanding on the material covered in the morning session, this in-depth presentation will provide information concerning specific product types/categories and their actual clinical use and performance within this evolving class of dental materials.

Your dental hygienist can be responsible for the periodontal portion of your practice.

Hot Topics in Perio! (afternoon)This clinical presentation reviews current periodontal procedures with maximum learning potential and fun. Covered are clinical review of crown lengthening, pocket reduction, connective tissue grafting, extraction and socket preservation, and dental implants. Should we keep the tooth, or remove it and place an implant?
