Research on Ph. D. Thesis, Department of Pharmacognosy, University of

Mississippi, USA, 1986-1990. Microbial Transformations Study of Stemodin. This study included the following Screening large number of microorganisms for their ability to metabolize stemodin

diterpene. Isolation and characterization of the isolated metabolites by using 1-D, 2-D NMR, X-

ray and other techniques (IR, UV, GC, MS, HPLC).

Research on M. Sc. Thesis, Pharmaceutical Cell Biology Department, University of Minnesota, USA, 1984-1986.

Community Service: 1. Conducting the first comprehensive survey in Egypt on mycotoxins in human food and

animal feed. This survey was the first milestone in studying the high incidence of liver and kidney diseases in Egypt.

2. Establishing a lab for food and drug analysis based on the recommendation of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to help evaluating drugs and food for seeking prophylactic purposes.

3. Establishing a Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) from faculties of Science, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Medicine to discover new drugs from common available sources.

4. Providing an access to all colleagues from allover Egypt to send their samples (natural or synthetic) to be evaluated for antimicrobial, antimutagenic, antiviral, and Free radical scavenger assays.

5. Organizing a center in Mansoura, Egypt for monitoring environmental pollution in the Mediterreanean Sea, River Nile, Manzala Lake using immunologic and molecular biology approaches.

6. The Founder of Egyptian Society of Pharmacognosy (ESP) in Mansoura, Egypt. 7. Developing a patented Drug for treatment of Hepatitis C.
