Robert C. Detrano, MD, PhD, completed his undergraduate training at Washington Square College of New York University. He was awarded a doctoral degree in physics after completing graduate training at Polytechnic Institute of New York. He attended the University of Rome in Italy from 1973 until 1978 and graduated cum laude. His post- graduate training in internal medicine was at Methodist Hospital of Brook- lyn. He received his training in cardiovascular diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is currently professor of medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine and a cardiologist at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Terence M. Doherty, BA, attended California State University in Long Beach and received his bachelor of arts degree in physiological psychology in 1975. He attended graduate school at the same institution and did research in neurophysiology. He has worked as a technologist in cardiac catheterization laboratories since 1979. He has published more than 20 full- length peer-reviewed reports and 2 book chapters on the subject of coronary artery disease and specifically its relationship to calcification. Michael J. Davies, MD, is presently a cardiac patholo- gist at the Cardiovascular Pathology Unit at Saint George’s Hospital Medical School in London, England. Herbert C.
