The year is 549M.41, for more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile

on the Golden Throne of Earth, he is the master of all mankind and master of countless worlds by the might of his millions’ strong armies. He is the Carrion lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he maynever truly die. The greatest among his armies are the Adeptus Astartes, the SpaceMarines, bio-engineered super–soldiers. Their comrades are the Imperial Guard, andthe tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus, among countless others.

On the forge world Cirus, Master Lorius Tiederian and the 2nd & 3rd company of Blood Ravens Space Marines are preparing to attack an ork camp held by Ork warboss Mangudie. The Orks’ are the most barbaric of alien races, their armies cover the battlefield in vast numbers and overrun their foes in a torrent of bloodshed andmindless violence. They are a race rooted so deeply in war that peace is utterlyincomprehensible to them.

As Master Tiederian watched his space marines of the 3rd company prepare for battlehe happened to notice that there was a slight look of doubt on their faces. CaptainAngelos was talking to him about the attack and how it should be carried out and thensaid “Master, how can we possibly win this battle when we are out numbered five toone”?He replied swiftly “You, of all people should know by now that it is not numbers thatwin a battle, but the quality of those that fight in it”.“Yes Master”“Do not worry, we have gone up against worse odds than this before, like the battleson Tartarus, the odds were not up to much then were they, you should know youwhere the ranking officer when the investigation took place.”

As Marcus Corien, a young scout in the Blood Ravens Chapter & part of the 2ndCompany was walking over to his Rhino transport he heard his ceramite boots hit off of something metal. He looked beneath him and saw that there was a drain, he openedthe hatch and saw that there was a tunnel leading somewhere so he shouted on hisCompany Captain, Captain Gregor Lucien to investigate. He came to the conclusion

that it could only lead to the Hive city that was about 10 kilometres north, and on theway was the ork camp. “Captain, this drain most likely leads to the Hive city that liesnorth of here, and on the way to the small town which is now the ork camp.” Lucienexamined the drain and then replied. “You will take Brother Jeramakus and Brother Ramius and scout ahead to see where it leads.”“Yes sir” the young marine replied.“We will wait until you return before we attack”. Then Corien called for Jeramakusand Ramius while entering the drain. Captain Lucien consulted with Master Tiederian, and he called off the attack but prepared everyone for battle.Corien, Jaramakus and Ramius ran along the sewer, when Corien realised that theywere under the camp he held up a fist to signal them to stop. He gently held the drain

open and peered out, he could see orks everywhere, and they seemed to be preparingto leave. This was perfect, they could attack them while they where off guard as well



as it being a surprise attack. He told Jaramakus and Ramius to watch the entrancewhile he went back and told Captain Lucien that they had found the entrance, andwhat was happening at the camp. As he emerged from the drain Lucien was waitingfor him. “Captain, we found an entrance to the camp about 2 kilometres along thesewers”

“Good, we’ll send a third of our forces through the sewers and make a diversionaryattack on the camp with the rest so that you can get in relatively unharmed and openthe gates for us. You will have to force your way through the base and open the gatesfrom the other side so that the rest of us can get in, Marcus we’re counting on you”.

When Corien and the rest of the space marines met up with Ramius and Lucien theywaited for conformation that Master Tiederian had begun the attack and then…“Marcus, we are proceeding with the attack” called the Captains voice.“Affirmative” Corien opened the hatch and saw only a few orks weren’t at the battleso he discharged a few bolt rounds from his bolter and killed them. As he emergedfrom the sewers he felt a solid round fly past his head, then he noticed the ork hiding

beside the door. Ramius must have noticed it first because when he got out of thehatch he shot him in the head and with a single round he was dead “Thank you

brother” guestured Corien. When all the marines were out of the sewers they headedfor cover at the nearest building, the building had just been blown up by a missilefrom another marine to make for a better defensive position. When they reached ruinthey could see smoke rising on the other side of walls and it could only be burning

predator tanks. Corien and a few marines rushed out of the building and after somehard fighting they reached the gates and opened them. The first person to comethrough the gate was Master Tiederian, with Lucien and Angelos by his side.As the remaining orks pulled back to regroup, Corien spotted the ork warboss with asquad of Nobs. He noticed there was an operational sniper-rifle on the ground besidehim so he picked it up. When the orks had regrouped they decided to make a last ditchattempt at killing the space marine forces. As they charged at them Corien spotted thewarboss again and aimed at him with the rifle, he had a clear shot and took it, theround pinged off the orks armour but Corien fired again and wounded the warboss, hehad hit him in the shoulder and the warboss dropped his big choppa.This was followed by a swipe from Captain Lucien’s power sword, killing the ork.The killing of their leader enraged the Orks further and they advanced on the BloodRavens position with true malice.

As the fighting raged on Corien was able to kill many Orks with the sniper-rifle, so

Lucien was very pleased with him. When the battle had ended and the assault marineswhere cutting down the last of the orks as they fled, Lucien walked up to Corien andcongratulated him. “Well done young lad, Master Tiederian appreciates your help into an easy victory, we would not have won the battle as easily if you had not foundthe sewers and let the rest of the force into the base… there would have been a lotmore dead brothers here today, if it were not for these actions.”“I am glad I could be of such help, Thank you.”“Do not thank me, you should be thanking the Emperor for showing you the tunnel tothe camp”“Yes, sir” Marcus Corien turned and walked over to the Thunder Hawk gunshipwaiting to take him and the rest of his squad bake to the Omnis Arcanum, the Blood

Ravens Battle Barge and Fortress Monastery. As he entered the craft fired its enginesand left for the ship. When he arrived he headed for his quarters, a small room with a



bed and a small table, he put his Boltgun and newly acquired sniper-rifle on the wallwhere he had a small rack able to hold some weaponry, he also had a prayer chamber where he would pray to the God-Emperor of mankind and to the great father, AzariahVidya

Chapter 1

5 years later…Corien had risen to the rank of Tactical Marine and was part of the 2nd company. Hissquad Sergeant was Oberon Betancore and Company Captain was Gregor Lucien

Sergeant Betancore was the leader of Corien’s Tactical squad and had fought in theSessen War for over 35 years. He has once been hit in the shoulder guard by a fragmissile which has blown off his arm and half of his face. He had therefore been givenextensive bionic repairs. Corien was the youngest member of his squad, and quite

probably his whole company, but he was far from the least skilful. He had once beaten Betancore himself in the practice cages, but saying that, it had been a veryclose fight and Betancore had almost won. Corien had been spending his free timewith his good friend Ramius and was now heading to his private chambers, whileRamius headed for the armoury to hand his bolter in for repair as the Aquilla on theside had been badly damaged in the last battle. When Ramius got to the Armoury hefound his squad sergeant; Malachi Siteus and the rest of his squad. The Sergeantgathered the Squad and said “the base is under attack by feral orks under thecommand of an ork warboss called Ordigred; we are to engage the enemy at the maingate where they have broken through and try to thin out there forces”. Upon exitingthe Armoury two Ork Kommandos’ charged around the corner of the corridor andfired at Siteus’ squad, but failed to hit a target and were soon killed by Jeramakus andRamius.

As squad Siteus arrived at the battle they spotted Captain Lucien fighting at the gateand went over to Him. “Captain” called Siteus, “what is the situation”“We have been able to stop most of the ork Slugga and Shoota Boyz but most of theKommandos have been able to slip past our defences, I want you to track them down,kill them then get back here to help the defences”.“Yes, sir”! When they left the hanger Ramius saw a squad of kommandos running upone of the corridors to his left then automatically fired with his bolter and killed twoand injured another. The injured kommando turned and fired his pistol at him and

cought the edge of his armour, creating a huge scar in the metal. He dived to thecorner for cover and Jeramakus fired his Plasma Gun, the shot had just missed and theork died of the extreme heat from the plasma. The last two Kommandos from thesquad came rushing around the corner to see what had happened and were gunneddown by the rest of squad Siteus. When the squad was heading up corridor 3B theysaw that a whole squad of the orks had been killed and the walls were riddled with

bullets. A few metres ahead of the marines lay the 10 Ork Kommandos; dead on theground with blood splattered everywhere. Around the next corner were two gunservitors who had, seemingly, just killed a squad of Kommandos. The squad past theservitors then entered corridor 4A where they came across sergeant Crodamine andhis squad of Space Marine Devastators. Siteus said to Crodamine “what are you doing

here”.



“We were sent by Captain Lucien to find and help you kill the remaining Ork Kommandos” replied Crodamine.“Ok, we were going to head for corridor 7D then make our way back to the Gatethrough corridor 8A, 9B then 10A - 3A”.“We will head to the Company Chapel and then go through corridor 27C to the

Armoury and then back to the Gate through the quickest route”. Stated Crodamine+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
