Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. (CCC 1514)

The Knights of Columbus, SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral Council 12708 is again offering their annual scholarship to a graduating 8th Grade Student who plans to continue their education in a Catholic High School in the Diocese of Phoenix. It is a $2,000.00 scholarship payable at $500.00 per year for four years. This scholarship will be awarded on the following criteria: Grades, Extra-curricular activities, Recommendations, Financial need, Community Service and an Essay. Scholarship rules and applications will be available April 9, 2018 in the SS. Simon & Jude Parish and School offices. Deadline for application return is May 4, 2018. Today as we celebrate the feast of Easter we find the challenge of also seeing and believing the resurrection that comes through

our own lives of self-sacrifice which brings new life to others.

Our community of SS. Simon and Jude continually shows their love for our Risen Lord by the love you give to those who are in need. Your sacrifices and prayers can help to change the lives of many of our neighbors who are about to be evicted or whose cupboards are empty. The Lord reminds us as we have done for the least of our brothers we have done for Him. Our pantry is in need of these items: peanut butter—canned vegetables—canned fruit—canned chicken—canned tuna—canned or dried beans—spaghetti—spaghetti sauce—mac & cheese—rice—soup and cereal. Any nonperishable items may be left in the Parish Office or gift shop. God’s Blessings and Happy Easter.

MOMS ROSARY IN THE PARK

Please join other SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral moms to pray the Rosary and get to know other women in our community. We will gather on the first Thursday of each month at Royal Palm Park (aka Butler Park) on 15th Avenue between Northern and Dunlap from 8:30 to 10a.m. and pray the Rosary at 9a.m.

Dates: Apr. 5 and May 3

No matter what your walk of life, please feel free to come and pray with us. If you don't know how to pray the Rosary, we can teach you and provide rosaries! Feel free to bring a snack to share. Little ones are welcome to come play while we pray.

SAN VICENTE DE PAÚL Hoy cuando celebramos la fiesta de Pascua encontramos el desafío de ver y creer la resurrección que viene a través nuestras propias vidas de auto sacrificio que trae nueva vida a otros.

Nuestra comunidad de SS. Simón y Judas muestran continuamente su amor por nuestro Señor Resucitado por el amor que le das a los necesitados. Sus sacrificios y oraciones pueden ayudar a cambiar las vidas de muchos de nuestros vecinos que están a punto de ser desalojados o cuyos armarios están vacíos. El Señor nos recuerda lo que hemos hecho por el más pequeño de nuestros hermanos que hemos hecho por él. Los Caballeros de Colón, Catedral de SS. Simón y Judas Council 12708 está nuevamente ofreciendo su beca anual a un estudiante de octavo grado que se gradúa y planea continuar su educación en una escuela secundaria católica en la Diócesis de Phoenix. Es una beca de $ 2,000 pagadera a $500 por año durante cuatro años. Esta beca se otorgará según los siguientes criterios: calificaciones, actividades extracurriculares, recomendaciones, necesidad financiera, servicio a la comunidad y un ensayo.
