THE BLACK DOG OF OGRODZIENIEC POLAND
The castle of Ogrodzieniec is the biggest castle ruin you can see in Poland.
It is situated in the south of Poland, on the so-called “Eagle Nests Trail”. Thousands
of people visit the place every year to walk around the ruins or take part in
numerous attractions, such as medieval fairs or tournaments. But at night…
Back in the 16th
century, one of the castle owners was a noble called
Stanisław Warszycki. He decided to build a huge mansion on his estate adjoining the
castle. He did so by robbing his subjects and forcing them into slave labour. He even
created a special chamber of torture inside the outer walls of Ogrodzieniec castle,
where he used to torture the people who he suspected of keeping some money or
other treasures hidden from him.
Also his servants were terribly scared of him, as he punished them severely
even for the minor mistakes. But that is not all – he also had a habit of publicly
punishing his wife if she displeased him in any way.
Cruel Warszycki did not die his own death. He was taken to hell – alive –
and the demons ripped out his soul. Then they turned his soul into a huge, black
dog, which now has to roam the areas of the castle, howling desperately and
dragging a heavy, three-metre chain behind.
For centuries now the black dog has been haunting the castle grounds.
Many people have seen this creature and there are numerous accounts of these
encounters.
