The listing which follows Is based on "The History of the Bllckensderfer Family In J\merlca11 (approximately 1897) by Jacob Blickensderfer. Data found In recent years changes some of the lnfonnatlon shown In this book. Also many new families have been added.

In his book Jacob Bllckensderfer refers to Hans Jakob Bl lckensdoerfer as 1The Anabaptist' since his first name was not known. In addition the book shows six sons for 'The Anabaptist' with five coming to J\merlca: Christian, Jacob, Johannes, Ulrlch and Jost. The sixth son, whose name was not known, remained on the family property called "The Kohlhof" located near Schlfferstadt In the Pfalz. 'The Anabaptist' was thought to have died about 1767, with his son who remained on The Kohlhof preceding him In death.

"The Pa 1 atl ne Men non I te Census LI s ts, 1564-1793", as pub 11 shed by Hermann and Gertrud Guth and J. Lemar and Lo Is Ann Mast In 1997, show that 'The Anabaptist's' name was Hans Jakob and he and his wife had five children who survived to adulthood -- al I sons. The name of only one son Is mentioned, that of the son who ranalned on The Kohlhof, and his name was Jakob. Therefore, It seems the portions pertaining to Jacob In "The History of the Bllckensderfer Family" should be eliminated. A Jacob Bllckensderfer did arrive In Phlladelphia on 16 September 1749 on the ship Patience and he seems to have been the sane Jacob Bl l ckensder-f'er- from Buchen Egg, Canton Zurich, Switzerland who married Priscilla Rudy In the First (German) Reformed Church In Phlladelphla on 10 Jul 1750. Also he seems to be the same Jacob Bllckensderfer with wife Ursula Rudy who had their son John, born 3 Mar 1753, baptized on 15 Aprll 1753 In the same church In Phila- delphia. Quite possibly this Jacob was connected with Hens Jakob's ('The Anabaptist') family. In addition the Census Lists show that Hans Jakob was deceased by 1733 and the son Jakob was 1 lvlng In 1753 but was deceased by 1773.

ThH f Ive sons of Hans Jakob Bl lckensdoerfer and h Is wl fe, as we! I as the pages on which they can be found, are I isted below. ACKNOWLEDGMENT

111 received no Port Folio, and no blanks filled as specimens; having relied solely upon my own Judgement, it will not be curious if I have erred 11 \'kn. Mi 11 s, 1850 Census Taker, Harri son Co., Oh Io

Uni Ike Mr. Mil Is we have relied on the work of countless tndtvlduals In compllllng this List of Descendants of Hans Jacob and K(atharina?l BLICKENSDOERFER. We have very carefully tried to keep errors to a minimum, but "it wl 11 not be curious If we have erred."

The major sources consulted for this List have been acknowledged; we would I Ike to express our deepest appreciation to those hundreds of anonymous people who contributed In some way to make so much data available for research.

would like to honor the generosity of Chester A. Peters who gave me all his Bllckensderfer-Bllckenstaff records when he real tzed he would not be able to finish the book he had planned for his wife, Edith (Blickenstaff) Peters.

Special thanks go to Helen Grove of Frankfort, Indiana who braved the cold November weather In 1955 to locate the long-forgotten graves of Barbara Blickenstaff and her children El tzabeth, Hannah and Joseph.

Special recognt tlon goes to Ml ldred (Bl l ckens taf f l Farmer who was the Golden Thread whrch tied her eight brothers and sisters together after their mother died 25 November 1925.

In October 1937, through an amazing coincidence, I met Mary (Meyers) Williams and her husband, Herman, In the Moravian Cemetery, Qiaden- hutten, Ohio. Through that encounter I got to know Mary F. Mickey who patlently deciphered at I my handwritten records, combined them with her own and those of Mary (Meyers) Wll Iiams; then added many more names from other Bllckensderfer-Bllckenstaff genealogists to compile th! s I l s+,

Without the dedication and i,,ord-processlng skllls of Mary Mickey this List would never have been completed. Mary's sister, Rita, does not share Mary's Interest In family history; nevertheless, she has been of Invaluable help In proofreading all these names and dates.

Working to bring this List Into printed form has been a big challenge and a great pleasure. To all who contributed to this list, our gratl rude,

    Maxine L. Blickenstaff
