Not seeing what God has left you here to do

Blind Spot:

Not Seeing What God Is Doing All Around You

• "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.

• Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo.

• Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three.

• Theologically, I can see that God is all-powerful and that we are small and insignificant.

• Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.

• Why, what does it tell you?"

Some of the Pharisees said, “This man Jesus is not from God, for he is working on the Sabbath.” Others said, “But how could an ordinary sinner do such miraculous signs?” So there was a deep division of opinion among them.

A Blind Spot:Can Keep You From Seeing What YOU

Are Doing

Could It Happen To Us?

18  “Listen, you who are deaf! Look and see, you blind!

19  Who is as blind as my own people, my servant?

Who is as deaf as my messenger?

Who is as blind as my chosen people, the servant of the Lord?

20 You see and recognize what is right but refuse to act on it.

Isaiah 42:18-20

There’s More Than One Way To Cut People Off – And You Don’t Have To Be IN A Car To Do It!

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

A Killjoy

Kills Joy

8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

1 John 1:8-10

Spiritual blindness is worse and more common than physical blindness.

Do You Want To See?

• Take a moment to consider all that God has given you. Would you say you live in a state of gratitude or not?

• Take a moment to think about how you’ve lived. What sins would you say that you have committed during your life?

• Now think about the people in your life – family, friends, coworkers, neighbors – but also those who serve you. Clerks, waiters, busboys, etc. What about those older, or younger? Would they say you are living the life of Christ?

“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found,

was blind but now I see.”
