1. Estimated Demand
To estimate how many blow molding tools will the Szentkirályi Company need, we
will have to estimate the yearly return of the company. Hungary’s yearly mineral water
consumption has the following distribution regarding the carbon dioxide content of the
product:
It is known that Szentkirályi sells overall 200 million liters of mineral water a year,
which means it sells approximately 114 million liters of sparkling water. Since this
amount contains the 0.5 liter bottles and the huge 20 liter balloons together –which has
a small percentage in the whole selling, we can approximate the amount of sparkling
water sold in 1.5 liter bottles is about 105 million liters. This means 70 million bottles a
year.
Regarding the fact that around 1 million bottles can be produced with one set of
tool, the total need for a year is 70 toolsets per a year.
Let we assume that the demand for new tool sets has the following distribution for a
year:

3.1. Time
The time bucket of this planning will be a month and the whole plan is evaluated
for a period of a year.
3.2. Lots
The side and bottom tool manufacturing can be started with the minimum amount
of 10 units.
