Security Empowers Business DATASHEET X-SERIES X20, X30, & X50 We’ve become used to buying boxes to solve security issues – the problem is we live in a world where security always changes and fixed form-factor security products just can’t keep up. At Blue Coat, we took the challenge head on and developed the X-Series – An open adaptable platform that is part of our Business Assurance Platform, and is capable of handling the changes in your business and the security landscape. HIT THE RESET BUTTON The X-Series integrates superior network processing together with exceptional application processing on an open architecture – which means you get to choose best-in- class applications to run on the platform to maximize your security – protecting the assets, brand, and customers – that is what Blue Coat provides. The secret to the platform is that it’s actually a Virtual Infrastructure or “network-in-a- box” that provides a responsive system that is change-ready to your application and performance needs. Our Virtual Infrastructure delivers exceptional performance by leveraging every ounce of processing resource and maximizing system life. The X-Series platforms allow businesses to consolidate network infrastructure (switches, load balancers, patch cabling, and power cords) and appliances supporting security applications. This greatly simplifies deployment, with fewer devices to manage, a smaller footprint and of course a lower cost of ownership. The X20, X30, and X50 platforms come ready to run one best-in-class security application right out of the box, and can be managed with our Blue Coat Network Management System (XMS). All systems come preconfigured with all the necessary processor modules and Power Supplies and can be easily expanded to increase the performance of that application, or add a second application. The system is designed using five components: 1. Carrier grade chassis 2. Network Processor Module (NPM) 3. Application Processor Module (APM) 4. Control Processor Module (CPM) 5. That’s why we have spent the last 10 years perfecting our creation. We built an operating system that allows multiple best-of-breed applications to live on the same platform working together seamlessly, and with the ability to centralize control and visibility of the entire system. 600 person-years of effort later, XOS is in use by some of the largest banks, service providers, mobile operators, schools, and governments around the world. With XOS, a Virtual Infrastructure is created allowing customers to move, add, and change applications onto the same hardware within minutes and to do so without fear of downtime. In effect, XOS created a new genre of Network Security Platforms. • Utilize best-in-class applications to fit your business and maximize security • Consolidate multiple security applications within one flexible platform • Lower total cost of ownership with dramatic network consolidation and energy consolidation • Extend hardware capital depreciation cycles to 5+ years BLUE COAT X-SERIES X20, X30, & X50 X30 X20 X50 Carrier Grade Chassis XOS Operating System CPM NPM APM

We’ve become used to buying boxes to solve security issues – the problem is we live in a world where security always changes and fixed form-factor security products just can’t keep up. At Blue Coat, we took the challenge head on and developed the X-Series – An open adaptable platform that is part of our Business Assurance Platform, and is capable of handling the changes in your business and the security landscape.

HIT THE RESET BUTTONThe X-Series integrates superior network processing together with exceptional application processing on an open architecture – which means you get to choose best-in-class applications to run on the platform to maximize your security – protecting the assets, brand, and customers – that is what Blue Coat provides.

The secret to the platform is that it’s actually a Virtual Infrastructure or “network-in-a-box” that provides a responsive system that is change-ready to your application and performance needs.

The system is designed using five components:

1. Carrier grade chassis

2. Network Processor Module (NPM)

3. Application Processor Module (APM)

4. Control Processor Module (CPM)

5. XOS Operating System

The most powerful innovation is our X-Series Operating System (XOS). At Blue Coat, we believe the secret to a successful platform is its operating system.

• Utilize best-in-class applications to fit your business and maximize security

• Consolidate multiple security applications within one flexible platform

• Lower total cost of ownership with dramatic network consolidation and energy consolidation

• Extend hardware capital depreciation cycles to 5+ years
