    Get into the holiday spirit at the annual Holiday Fun Fest. There will be pictures withSanta, games, food, crafts, contests and fun for the whole family! The festive holidayparade begins at 9:00 am and dont forget to stop by the Blue Star Card booth from10:00 am 1:00 pm to enjoy making holiday ornaments! We will also have greeting

    cards which may be personalized and sent to a loved one who is away. For moreinformation on the Holiday Fun Fest event, please call 833-0920/4932.

    Star Recipe of the Month:

    INGREDIENTS 3 1/2 cups all-purpose our 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 2/3 cup sugar 1 large egg 1 tbsp. light corn syrup 1 tbsp. vanilla extract Red or green food coloring

    DIRECTIONS1. In a medium-size bowl, mix the our andsalt. In a large bowl, cream the butter andsugar, stir in the egg, then the corn syrupand vanilla extract. One third at a time, addthe our mixture until thoroughly mixed.

    2. To color dough: Divide the dough intoportions and use a toothpick to add foodcoloring paste (available at party supplystores) to each one. Knead until the coloris evenly distributed. For a avor surprise,omit the vanilla extract and add 1 teaspoonof mint extract to the green dough orstrawberry extract to the red dough.

    3. Pat the dough into two disks, wrap inplastic, and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours,or until rm enough to roll. If it is too rm,soften at room temperature for 5 minutes.

    4. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Roll onedisk of dough between two pieces of waxedpaper or plastic wrap, 1/4 inch thick.

    5. For each candy cane, form small piecesof two colors of dough into two ropes, about1/4 inch in diameter and 16 inches long.Carefully twist the ropes together to form acandy cane. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, oruntil lightly browned.

    Answer: Yes! The Hired Program, along with other agencies, is sponsoring a Teen JobFair. It will be held on December 17 from 10 am 1 pm at the SKIES Unlimited Of ce,bldg 1283, Hewitt Ave. Classes will be held on taxes, applications, credit and banking.Employers will also be on site with job applications. Teens will need to bring a reference

    SUPER SATURDAY CHILDCARESuper Saturday will be held on December 11 from 9 am 2 pm at Fort ShafterCDC and Fort Shafter Youth Center. To participate in Super Saturday Childcare,patrons must be Blue Star Card holders. Reservations may be made as early as30 days prior to the event.
