    Program Spotlight:Pro Bowl Activities

    S P E C I A L E V E N T S Walk off the Wait: Lanikai Pill Boxes, January 11

    Join us on our latest Blue Star Card hike to the LanikaiPillboxes (also known as bunkers), Tuesday, January 11.Hiking along the Kaiwa Ridge, you will encounter two bunkersbuilt by the U.S. Military during World War II. In addition, thisshort hike offers beautiful views of the windward side of Oahu. Free transportation will be leaving from the Scho eldBarracks Bowling Center parking lot at 8:00 am and returning around 2:00 pm. This hike is considered a 2 star rating (5star scale). The trail is not stroller accessible. Make sure to

    pack sunscreen and plenty of water! We will also be stopping for shave ice at Island Snow so please bring some pocketchange! For more information or to register, call 655-0112/3.Deadline to register for this event is January 7.

Bring your creativity and we will supplythe materials! The Blue Star Card program will also be giving

The event willfeature Black Jack, Texas Hold Em, Roulette, and Bingo. Notinto games? Come relax while enjoying great conversation withfellow Blue Star Card holders!     Pro Bowl Ohana DayJanuary 29

    The NFL Pro Bowl is hosting a free Ohana Day for Families. The event willinclude prize drawings, a chance for kids to go on the field for contests, anda sneak peak of the pre-game and halftime shows. Free transportation willbe leaving from the Schofield Barracks Bowling Center parking lot at 7:45am and Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter at 8:15 am. Space is limited.     Ate Too Many Holiday Treats?Make a New Years Resolution to become a healthier you and enter the Biggest Loser

    Contest! Registration fee is just $10 for Blue Star Cardholders; all others $15. Enter anytime

    after January 3 at the Fort Shafter Physical Fitness Center or Scho eld Barracks Health and

    Fitness Center. Winners will be selected based on the percentage of body fat lost throughout

    the contest period (January 3 - April 1). Have questions? Please call the Fort Shafter PFC at

    438-1152 or the Scho eld Barracks Health and Fitness Center at 655-8007.

    The Blue Star Card printer station will be moving from the TriplerACS to the Fort Shafter ACS on January 18. You will still be able toget your Blue Star Card printed at the Tripler ACS until this date.After January 18, you will need to go to the Fort Shafter ACS locatedat the Fort Shafter Aloha Center, Bldg 330, Clark Road, to get yourBlue Star Card. Regular Blue Star Card registration requirements still

    apply. The printer at ACS on Schofield will stay in its current location.If you have any questions about the move, please [email protected] or call 655-0002.

    Star Recipe of the Month:

    INGREDIENTS

    White candy melts(one 14-ounce package makes16 snowmen)

    Mini chocolate chips

    Light cocoa candy melts

    Rolos

    Candy corn

    DIRECTIONS

    1. To assemble your snowman,melt the white candy in a bowlaccording to the packageinstructions,

    2. Scoop a rounded tablespoononto a sheet of wax paper. Withthe back of a spoon, smear thecandy into a puddle.

    3. Working quickly, stick on thelight cocoa candy melt, add adot of white melted candy, thenplace the Rolo on top.

    4. Finally add the candy corn noseand mini chocolate chip eyesand mouth.

    Keiki Question of the month: My children are getting to the age where they can stay home by themselves. Are there any classes that teach them safety so that I feel morecomfortable leaving them home alone?

    Answer: Yes, Army Community Service (ACS) offers a class called, Home Alone, whichteaches children ages 9-11 tips on how to stay home alone safely. This class covers re
