    Spouses of deployed Soldiers are eligible to sign up for a Blue Star Card,

    which will give you discounts at Family and MWR facilities, activities and

    special events. Your Blue Star Card will be valid throughout the entire

    deployment. To get your card, visit Army Community Service on Schofeld

    Barracks or Fort Shafter.

    Walk o the Wait, September 11 Old Pali Trail

    Walk o the Wait with Blue Star Card on Tuesday, September 11 whenwe visit the Old Pali Trail. This easy, 2 mile, stroller riendly hike headsdownhill along an abandoned portion o the Old Pali Highway built in1932. The area is lush with vegetation that is slowly taking over theroad and eatures spectacular, unobstructed views extend across thevertical ridges, tall orbidding peaks, and deep valleys o the sheer aliclis to the coastal plain and ocean below. The lookout is oten windybut the views are staggering. Ater our stroll we will stop or somerereshing shaved ice so bring a little cash. Limited transportation willbe leaving Schofeld Barracks at 8:30 am, registration is required. Call

Join your Blue Star Card riends onThursday, September 27, at the Schofeld Barracks Arts & Crats Center.We will provide all o the materials or each amily to make a mementoor their Soldier, just bring your creativity and smiling aces.     Parents Night Out

    Parents Night Out will be held September 8 (AMR CDC and AMR Youth Center), September 22 (Bowan

    CDC and Schoeld School Age Center). For more information on Parents Night Out or to make a

    reservation, call the Schoeld Barracks CYS Services Registration Ofce at 655-5314 or the AMR

    Registration Ofce at 833-5393.

    Blue Star Card holders can use their 16 free hours for the month toward Parents Night Out!

    Star Recipe of the Month:

    INGREDIENTS

    2 cups pretzel sticks

    1 cup mixed nuts

    1/2 cup sunower kernels

    6 tablespoons butter, melted

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

    8 cups popped popcorn

    1 cup candy corn

    1 cup chocolate bridge mix

    DIRECTIONS

    In a large bowl, combine the pretzels,

    nuts & sunower kernels.

    Combine the butter, cinnamon & cloves.

    Drizzle a third of butter mixture over

    pretzel mixture; toss to coat.

    Transfer to a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x

    1-in. baking pan & bake at 300 for 15

    minutes.

    Place popcorn in a large bowl; drizzle

    with remaining butter mixture & toss

    to coat.

    Stir into pretzel mixture.

    Bake 15 minutes longer or until heated

    through.Cool, transfer to a large bowl and add

    candy corn & bridge mix.

    Yield: 3 quarts.
