    Part I: Concept Design

Concept Design is the process of converting a simple project idea into a design solution that is intended for realization. Inside Architecture has found over the past 20 plus years that having a solid and well thought out concept design, with realistic cost feedback, allows for the remainder of the design and construction process to run smoothly and successfully. During this first stage of the project, IA will guide you through the preliminary design process and confidently provide you with the ideal design solution for your needs and budget.

    Inside Architecture’s Concept Design Services:

•Your Vision:Your Vision:Your Vision:Your Vision: Discuss project areas of concern and define your needs and objectives. Often this may encompass many areas of your home both inside and outside.

•Zoning Analysis:Zoning Analysis:Zoning Analysis:Zoning Analysis: Review local ordinances and zoning regulations that may have an impact on the project.

•Identification of permits and / or agency reviewsIdentification of permits and / or agency reviewsIdentification of permits and / or agency reviewsIdentification of permits and / or agency reviews that may be required (for example, construction in a flood zone)

•Existing Conditions Survey & Documentation:Existing Conditions Survey & Documentation:Existing Conditions Survey & Documentation:Existing Conditions Survey & Documentation: Survey and photograph existing project area(s) and document as a scaled floor plan drawing.

•Building Code Review:Building Code Review:Building Code Review:Building Code Review: Review building code for requirements that may influence design decisions.

•Design Solutions:Design Solutions:Design Solutions:Design Solutions: After initial meeting and project discussions IA will develop two floor plan options.

•Final Design Solution:Final Design Solution:Final Design Solution:Final Design Solution: Based on our discussion a revised/final concept plan will be issued.

    Part II: Project Implementation

With the Concept Design complete and a clear direction for your project in place, we will proceed to the next steps which include refining the design and developing the construction details. We will review in more depth the spatial, functional and esthetic requirements, as well as investigating finishes, materials and construction methods to be utilized. The ideas and solutions we discussed will then be refined into a very detailed plan that will become the road map for the construction of your project.

    Inside Architecture’s Project Implementation Services:

•Design DevelopmentDesign DevelopmentDesign DevelopmentDesign Development: Based on the outcome of Concept Design formalized plans, sections and elevations are developed. Ideas of the finishes, materials, construction details and specifications will be confirmed. We’ll provide a checklist of decisions required to complete Design Development. At the end of this step of the design work will be complete.

•Construction Documents:Construction Documents:Construction Documents:Construction Documents: After all design decisions have been finalized; IA prepares signed and sealed detailed drawings and specifications from which the contractor will build the project and necessary permits can be obtained. These drawings and specifications become part of the contract for construction.

•Construction Assistance:Construction Assistance:Construction Assistance:Construction Assistance: Final phase of the process. Once construction commences IA remains an active member of the construction team acting as the clients advocate, reviewing the progress of work and facilitating any changes that may be required.

    Blueprint for Design™IA’s proprietary process

“We created a simple design process to help our clients realize their project dreams”…Why?

Because we’ve heard so many home construction horror stories of cost overruns, code nightmares, unmet schedules and architects that seem to design without consideration of the clients vision or budget. In response IA developed “Blueprint for Design” a two part process that allows our clients to explore their potential project in measured steps. Only moving on to Part II after our clients are fully comfortable with all aspects of the Concept Design effort. The first part is Concept Design during which we’ll review design options, costs and codes. The second part is Project Implementation which encompasses those efforts necessary to transition the design concepts to a completed project.

“ Working with the folks at Inside Architecture was a great experience; they are talented designers yet down to earth and practical. IA proved to be both professional and easy to work with….I would definitely recommend them!”
