SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT The company’s Software Development Department is organized into three qualified units: PLC and DCSsoftware (Siemens, Rockwell, GE Fanuc, Omron…) Drivemotor software (ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Ansaldo…) HMI software (Ifix, Cimplicity, WinCC, InTouch, visual studio. net, Java, C, C++) The SD Department provides hardware architecture planning, whereby both hardware compliance and system design compatibility are verified. Automation software and the relatednetworks are tested on BM premises through a simulation of the customer PLC structure. MANUFACTURING In accordance with customer requirements, BM Automation directly supervises both installation and commissioning as a general contractor under the coordination of the relevant project managers, ensuring that all systems and components of industrial plants are designed, installed, tested, operated and maintained according to the operational requirements. ERECTION & COMMISSIONING The commissioning process does not only concern new projects but also existing units and systems undergoing an expansion or a revamping. A technical team is available full-time to provide prompt assistance and remote supervision services when needed. FEASIBILITY STUDY Good feasibility studies allow to evaluate the purchase of major equipment or new automation systems and help customers understand the impact of any consistent changes they may contemplate and take a decision accordingly. ENGINEERING The company’s Engineering Department provides preliminary and detailed engineering services for MV/LV electrical power distribution systems, process automation, plant monitoring automation, process tracking and controlsystems for entire factories as well assingle control panels. The company’s Design Department uses all the main design tools available on the market (EplanP8, Smart, etc.). Thanks to a close direct dialogue with BM Equipment Manufacturing Units and project managers, the Design Department has an overall view of thewhole development process of a project, thereby ensuring high standards in terms of product quality and delivery times. Motor drives for rewinders, Calenders and continuous machines, Pulper drives and refiners, DCS refining and pre-refining area, Production control with rolls traceability through bar code, Perimetral security and access management of machines, Water treatment plants, Sludge treatment and smoke reduction, Quality control and Line defects. Pumping stations, Gas and oxygen manufacture, Process control of refining, Conversion and storage, Automatic welding systems, OPD systems for the identification of pipe sections, Size measuring systems for welding alignment. Generation and cogeneration plants, Hydroelectric power plants and wind farms, Biomass, Combustion and gasification plants, Waste treatment plants, Thermal cycle management and heat recovery, Management systems and water treatment, BMS and BCS systems for steam generators, DCS and automation for cogeneration and Thermal cycle management plants. BM Automation produces all its own electrical and automation equipment through internal workshops and selected suppliers loyal in construction works. Power equipment and motor drives: AT Switchgear, MV Cells, Transformers, LV/MV Power center, Motor Control Center, LV/MV Motor Drivers up to over 5MW, motor test benches up to 6500A 690V, roller drives protection panels, electrical power panels, shears, start-stop gear and much more. BM Automation develops software for adjustment systems of the main industrial production processes: rolling mill train waterfall adjustment, arc furnace electrode adjustment, anti- sway systems for bridge cranes, automated handling and production tracking systems, centralized control of production, providing the end customer with a management interface for various levels. The software development department besides develops planning for the hardware structure with which to combine the created software, verifying regulatory compliance and system design compatibility. Automation software and its networks are tested in architectures found in the company and simulating the customer’s structure through a wide PLC range of any brand and model. The constant evolution of IT applied to industrial processes poses a new challenge to Industry 4.0: Cyber Security. Security as a mean to protect computer systems from theft or damages to hardware, software and above all from violations such as unauthorized access to sensitive data. BM Automation and Kaspersky Lab combined their know-how to achieve a specific industrial security package. Key element of this package is the counseling training performed by the BM technical team in collaboration with the internal company staff. This training is based on a thorough initial analysis, identifying the risks and the main aspects that need an intervention and the implementation of customized procedures for a safe computer management system and for the optimization of process operation. It’s a corporate function of BM Automation to introduce machine vision applied to industrial field. Machine vision is addressed and managed to have within the company all the skills and full knowledge of the process and to be able to provide sophisticated solutions in a specific and dedicated manner, suiting customer’s needs. Optical recognition of written characters on semi-finished products, the measurement of sizes and volume and the surface defects analysis, are some concrete examples. Customer oriented upgrade solutions are the key to success of BM Automation.
