Organisation’s Role and Main Activities(Products&Services):POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd is a company wholly owned by the Sabah State Government, whose mission is to establish Malaysia’s first large-scale industrial park focused on palm oil and related industries. The first two phases of the industrial park, located in Lahad Datu on thesouth-east coast of the state, comprise some 1100 acres of prime industrial land with all the necessary infrastructures including utilities, communications links, roads and jetties with berthing depths ranging from 12 to 20 meters. Two biodiesel producers, one from Australia and the other from South Korea, established theirmanufacturing facilities in POIC in 2007. Other well-known firms are either in the process of constructing their facilities or will be submitting their development plans soon. In addition, many firms from a variety of industries have also shown keen interest to locate in POIC. Businesses represented by these firms include foods, wood products, refineries, oleochemicals, pharmaceuticals, biomass and a range of related or supporting industries. The international division of the Port of Rotterdam signed a collaboration agreement with POIC in early 2009 to help establish world-class facilities and services in POIC, and create global linkages to markets and supplies for resident companies.
