It provides online access to complete plant breeding solutions, including a software analytical pipeline that combines information management, data analysis and decision-support tools (the Breeding Management System, BMS), genotyping services, peer communities, as well as predictive markers and crop ontology for over 10 crops. IBP professionals are available to provide training and technical support, mainly through IBP Hubs established in key regions to support users locally. Now entering into an intensive phase of deployment, the IBP is seeking an Implementation Officer (IO) who will be based in West Africa and who will work with selected BMS users to implement the BMS as their day-to-day breeding platform. Data management tasks, including migration, curation and documentation, will be at the core of the IO’s responsibilities. The IO will also support users in the adoption and use of the BMS and related services. The IO is expected to travel to target countries in West Africa for face-to-face interaction with BMS users. Participation as facilitator in training events is also anticipated. Applicants should have: A degree in statistics or computer science. Applied knowledge in agriculture, plant biology or breeding will be considered a plus. Experience in curating and manipulating large datasets between different formats using relational database tools. Experience in setting-up software in different environments, including supporting peripherals such as label printers, bar-code readers, automatic balances and hand-held data collection devices. Native or fluent French (primary language in this job setting), and working knowledge of English Other valuable skills for this position are: Knowledge and experience of experimental design, data collection and analysis for agricultural research. Experience in training and/or providing support to users. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to write clear technical recommendations and reports in French and English.
