Medicines information management must ensure that prescribing
is not only safe and effective but also cost-effi cient. For this to
be achievable, access to expert prescribing guidance must be
accompanied by management and communication of local formulary
information.
The publishers of the BNF have answered this need by creating BNFon FormularyComplete, providing a way for healthcare professionals to
improve governance and demonstrate compliance.
BNF on FormularyCompleteis a unique formulary management and
communication tool that offers locally installable intranet versions of BNF
and BNF for Children, alongside a framework that allows local formularies
to be created, published and edited. Formulary managers can effortlessly:
set formulary status; add unlicensed medicines into the BNF framework
(if required); annotate BNF content with additional information and alerts;
and link to institution-specific policies and procedures. Published via a
central server, all relevant guidance can be made instantly accessible to
staff and searchable via an institutions intranet.
The result is an improved formulary management system that
synchronises locally made formulary decisions and content with BNF
guidance. The BNF and BNF for Children are recognised by the General
Medical Council as must-use resources for good practice in prescribing.1
