I am an informal student of history and enthusiastic advocate of protecting historical artifacts for the welfare of ourcitizens. As a resident of Loudoun County since 1999, it's been a privilege to participate observe, enjoy and supportactivities relevant to the region's history. I also recognize that such activities, policies and supporting initiatives arenot possible without the contribution of County residents. As a former, four year, Board Member of the CascadesCommunity Association, I participated in a variety of hearings within local government which at the time werefocused on protecting public lands and infrastructure to include those of historical relevance. I realize theimportance of such initiatives that provide for the public good - even if the public is not always aware. Heritage Commission

I am interested in a position on the Heritage Commission as the Broad Run District representative because I am committed to the dissemination of knowledge about the history and heritage of our county and our own past. We must protect the structures, buildings, and land that helped to create Loudoun County. By preserving the history of the county, it not only helps citizens know where the county has been but also directs where it is going. People come from all across the country to see these sites, and they need to be preserved, not only for the citizens, but for the tourism. Loudoun County has become my home, and I would like to preserve and protect its history and heritage. This is why I feel I would be a great fit for this position.
