MOTION IN SUPPORT OF CONSENT AGENDA
RESOLVED, that the minutes of the August 25, 2016 Regular Board meeting be approved as
presented;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
• that the Resignations, Appointment, Change in Probationary Period, and Change in Salary
be approved according to Schedule A;
• Transportation Request – Tioga County Historical Society according to Schedule B;
• that the Committee on Special Education Placement Recommendations be approved
according to Schedule C;

MINUTES
August 25, 2016
The Owego Apalachin Board of Education held a Regular Meeting at the OA Administration
Building, 5 Sheldon Guile Boulevard, Owego, NY, on Thursday, August 25, 2016.
I. CALL TO ORDER
President Barton called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
II. ROLL CALL

III. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
A motion was made by Mr. Gene Cvik and seconded by Mrs. Becky Goodrich that the Board of
Education adopt the agenda.
Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Carried

IV. CONSIDERATION FOR THE NEED OF EXECUTIVE SESSION
President Barton stated that there is not a need for an executive session.

I. CONSENT AGENDA
A motion was made by Mr. Gene Cvik and seconded by Mrs. Linda Gretz that the Board of
Education adopts the following consent agenda.
RESOLVED, that the minutes of the August 4, 2016 Regular Board meeting be approved as
presented;
BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
• that the Resignations, Appointments, Change in Probationary Appointments, and Change in
Salary be approved according to Schedule A;
• that the July Treasurer’s Report approved according to Schedule B;
• that the Budget Transfers be approved according to Schedule C
• that the 2016-2017 Breakfast/Lunch Rates according to Schedule D
• that the Committee on Special Education Placement Recommendations be approved
according to Schedule E
• that the Committee on Special Education 504 Placement Recommendations be approved
according to Schedule F
• that the Committee on Preschool Special Education Placement Recommendations be
approved according to Schedule G

VII. PRESIDENT’S REPORT
None
VIII. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Mr. Green welcomed and acknowledged Ms. Lindey Field. Ms. Field was congratulated by the BoE
for her outstanding weightlifting performance this past weekend and setting a world record.
2016-2017 Tax Levy & Rates – Mr. Randy Pryor reported on the upcoming tax collection season
and reiterated the tax levy and rates.
NYS Regents Results – Mr. Heath Georgia discussed the most current Regents results.
NYS 3-8 Assessment Result – Mr. Bob Farrell gave a lengthy overview of the 3-8 test results.
Concussion Protocol Update – Mr. Andy Buchsbaum shared that there have been recent updates to
the concussion protocols that the BoE has previously approved.
A motion was made by Mr. Gene Cvik and seconded by Mr. Lee Dunham that the Board of
Education adopts the updated Concussion Protocol as presented.

Paving – Bid Award
A motion was made by Mr. Gene Cvik and seconded by Mrs. Becky Goodrich that the Board of
Education approve the Paving Bid Award and award to Rustin Paving.

BoE Meeting Calendar – there was discussion regarding the calendar and a new version will be
presented at the next BoE meeting.

The next section of policies is still in review.
XII. DISTRICT COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
Mr. Beatty, Mr. DiCosimo, and Mr. Georgia updated the BoE on the happenings in each of their
buildings.
