9:01 a.m.

3.1. Minutes from the June 3, 2021 Board of Variance Meeting

That the minutes from the June 3, 2021 Board of Variance meeting be adopted as circulated. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
4. NEW BUSINESS
4.1. 6921 Central Saanich Road
A proposal to vary the accessory building front setback, the minimum distance to the existing building, and the accessory building height, in order to construct a new accessory building. Mr. Miller, applicant, provided information on the reason for the variances requested. Ms. Hodgson noted concerns regarding the location of the garage. Mr. Kelbert questioned the style of the garage and noted the lack of support from neighbours. Mr. & Mrs. Wall, neighbours, expressed concerns with the application as it would have a negative affect on their strata property. Mr. Kelbert stated that this could not be considered a hardship and that due to the overwhelming lack of support, the application is not supportable.

We are fully in support of yourplans to create more privacy in your garden with the new retaining walland fence. I agree with you that with the much greater number of peopleliving in our area the numbers using the Ste||y's beach access haveincreased. I am the immediate neighbour of Patrick Miles who has requested the variance. I have written him a
letter of support.
When I received your notice in the mail it refers to a fence height total of 2.9m. This height makes it
seems excessively high which it is not. Stelly's road was raised many years ago by the District above
his property. Much of the fence height is required to compensate for that elevation of the road
surface. In my opinion the request he makes is entirely reasonable and necessary to provide him and
his family backyard privacy.
