Did you know there’s a specific kind of paper that can be disastrous to your health? Chances are you touch this kind of paper on a daily basis. Some of the known and confirmed side effects of touching the chemicals this paper contains include:

The chemicals this paper contains also disrupt your endocrine system—your body’s hormonal system responsible for secreting growth hor-mone, thyroid hormone and other hormones that stimulate testosterone and estrogen. The kind of paper I’m talking about is receipt pa-per. Many store receipts use thermal paper that’s coated in bisphenol A (BPA), to help the ink from the printer develop onto the receipt itself. The problem is, this coating doesn’t “stick” to the pa-per. You’ve probably experienced this with the re-ceipts you put in your wallet or pocket… they fade out or the ink on certain parts is completely gone, making it unreadable. It’s not every month that Cadbury sells it’s Easter Cream Eggs. Those commercials with rabbits clucking like chickens never get old...at least not for me. Even though I’m not a fan of
those super sweet cream eggs, I am a huge fan of the Easter season.
Once again, I am really proud to support and be part of the largest Easter Egg Hunt in Uxbridge. ..and probably all of Durham Region! 8 years ago one of my neighbours went out of her way to invite all the kids on the street to join her family in an egg hunt. Word of this little gesture of kindness spread like wild fire in a small town.
She kept organizing the hunt and families wanted to be a part of it. Last year, the “Hunt” as she calls it, had over 1000 people in attendance and over 3000 eggs were hidden. skin. And based on exhaustive research by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), the BPA can go deep enough into the skin that it cannot be washed off. [1] According to the same research by the EWG, most stores use this kind of BPA-coated receipt paper. What’s worse, the amount of BPA found on the paper is 250—1,000 times MORE than what you would find in a plastic bottle or soda can lining! This same body of research (from the EWG) discovered that your body absorbs up to 60% of the BPA that you get on your skin. Pretty scary stuff! So what can you do about it? For starters, start forgoing the re-ceipts on small items, or on items you don’t plan on returning or ex-changing. Next, handle your receipts as little as possible. Have a small pocket-book, wallet or purse where you can put them immediately. Alternatively, many stores nowadays will email you a receipt if you request (depends on what you’re purchas-ing.) Finally, always wash your hands as soon as possi-ble after handling receipts in the hopes that the BPA hasn’t absorbed into the skin yet. Make sure this is also a habit before preparing food, so you don’t continue contaminating yourself. If you’re in a rush, you might be tempted to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer after handling re-ceipts. Don’t. Doing so only INCREASES the ab-sorption of BPA in the skin. One more thing -never let your children play with receipts. The effects of BPA on children are highly detrimental. So next time you go to the store, skip the receipt… because now you know better! 5 Easy Ways To Rid Your Body Of
Nasty Toxins Every day your body is exposed to heavy metals, industrial-
grade chemicals and more. Here’s how you can flush all that nasty stuff OUT of your body!
1. Take chlorella. This powerful, green “super food” is ex-cellent at binding with toxins in your body and flushing them out. You can find it at your local health food store.
Take 1 gram three times a day. 2. Use activated charcoal. This is simply carbon that’s been refined into a very fine black powder. The good news is that it is perfectly safe—along with being odorless and tasteless. It’s also very ef-fective at flushing out the bloodstream of heavy metals and other chemicals that seep into your bloodstream from your environment. Take 20—30 grams a day, for up to 14 days to ensure your body is as pure as it can be. You’ll find this at your local health food store and is relatively inexpensive. 3. Consider citrus pectin. This is made from the peels of citrus fruit. One U.S.D.A. study found it to be highly effective at removing metals and pesti-cides from the bloodstream. Consult with your doc-tor on this one, in order to get both the proper dos-age and the correct kind of citrus pectin used in re-search studies. 4. Supplement with milk thistle. This is very effec-tive at “cleaning” your liver… which is your body’s
detox center. Aim for 200 mg a day. Also, make sure the brand you buy has at least 80% silymarin—the active ingredi-ent that helps clean things out. 5. Prevent toxins in the first place. Use glass instead of plastic containers for food. Use natural household cleaners and detergents and avoid heavily-processed foods.

Ingredients:
3 cups French bread, or other good bread,
cubed
1 cup ham, diced
Cooking spray or butter
1 egg, beaten lightly
1 1/3 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (mustard powder)
1/2 teaspoon dried flaked parsley
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
Pinch black pepper
1/2 cup red bell pepper (red pepper), chopped
1/2 cup cheese, grated
Ham, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Casserole
Prepare ahead recipes like these are perfect for weekends and fill the house with a delicious
small while cooking! You can of course vary the flavouring ingredients or leave them out if
your family prefers.
Instructions:
Lightly grease a casserole dish.
Throw in the cubed bread, red pepper, ham and cheese and toss to com-
bine.
In a small bowl, beat together the milk, egg and flavourings, and pour
over the bread cubes. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or over-
night.
When you are ready to cook the casserole, heat the oven to 350 F (180 C,
Gas Mark 4). Bake for approximately 40 minutes until lightly browned.

It’s just a few more weeks before Summer is officially here. And if you’re like many people, you’ll probably be scrambling to try and get in shape before you go out and play in the sun. Instead of freaking out when May rolls around, why not take the initiative NOW to get in shape… so it’s all taken care of by Summer? If that sounds good to you, then commit to it, so you can welcome the Sum-mer in the best shape you’ve ever been in. And when I say commit, actually COMMIT. Tell yourself, “I WILL do it!” Don’t let failure be an option. Don’t “try” to do it. DO IT! The truth is, until you commit—truly commit—nothing will change. So it’s my hope you take this ad-vice to heart and change your life. Also, don’t forget in your quest to get a great body to take care of your overall health. That’s why in this month’s issue I’ve included two important articles that deal with avoiding and clearing out the yucky tox-ins that seep into your skin from the environment we live in. Finally, don’t forget to celebrate Earth Day this month! Make another commitment to recycle more… drive less (and instead walk!) and take care of this amazing and wonderful planet we live in.
